| Canus Lupis...Please try to be more coherent with your sentences. I have a hard time reading the techni-color words and trying to make sense out of some of your euphemisms. I am not that much of a wordsmith so...spell it out in plain American uhhh... I mean English. Liquid g and Teddy Nugget are both partially right. We need to be careful not to become VIGILANTES. We are to protect ourselves/families first and others IF the situation permits. I for one will not place myself in a potential lawsuit snare nor will I go spoiling for a fight. It just ain't worth it. I agree that we need to do what we can to help the police...but I will not place myself willingly in harms way to do it. IF I can safely subdue the BG then I might. But as for ratcheting the guy to a pole or knocking him cold...not happening. I can just see the lawsuit now for of all things unlawful imprisonment and possible unnecessary use of force. You are better off if there is only one side to the story!:22:

| Thanks Festus, I started this thread so USA Carry patrons would [hopefully] learn from each other, post what they know, and help other CC folks stay out of the trouble that starts not when U pull a gun, but watching the clock tick by and legally dealing with the situation & the BG U R pointing a gun at, until a LEO takes that rotten job away from you. Like CC laws I've found they differ state to state, and person to person. Tell me that having all those USC/RCW's & laws for all 50 states available in one section of USA Carry, or on another web-page somewhere would not be a very useful tool. USA Carry has loads of state to state reference info on when you can use deadly force or what states honor others CC permits, but one BIG gap in what to do if you have to hold, not drop a perp. I have found that it's a way-gray area where CC folks often don't think the whole train of actions and consequences thru once the pistol has left the holster, thinking a gun is all it takes to make it happen legally, when most times effecting a Citizens Arrest is a VERY hairy process to do for anyone who has ever tried it and goes wrong more times than right because the CC do-gooder or person protecting themselves or those they love, screw it up. In CA, CO, AZ, WA and HI I lost M8's to way-expensive trials, loss of weapons, fines, jail or morgues for trying to protect themselves or loved ones who were good law abiding folks, but never understood that in that state the perp prolly has more rights than the victim. I write long posts and yes at times they get verbose, but I would rather read a long well thought out post from others who have experience or know the laws that work in their state, than some bullet that expresses a patrons point of view in 1 sentence, and I ask does that really do much but Instant Message the whole concept of communications into 1-liners of 1 person's opinion. Posting in HTML is what I do as a web-page designer for a hobby. But why bother putting the WYSIWYG tools Luke M put into USA Carry if they are a waste of time, if no one likes or uses them? Black text on white is (IMHO) for USENET & basic mailers. I will gear-back using it, no point if it detracts from the post, not adds a little color or formatting options most don't use or like even seeing glaring thru their monitors. This thread should IMHO stay open and if it saves just one good man or woman from doing hard jail time for trying to protect themselves or others, then it has done some good. Isn't this what USA Carry is all about, a place where you can learn to be a legal CC citizen not just a person with a hidden gun and by pulling or using that gun end up in more crap than if you had just let the perp/BG have their way, or U walked away from something you could have stopped going very bad? Back into lurk mode on this thread, as this is already prolly too long a read for some, and I've posted to it more than I need to, if others see the sense in posting to it, I will read their input and silently thank them for it. Thanks for the feed-back Festus and others who have contributed to this thread. If my style or my logic stinks then kill-file me and save yourselves reading whatever I post, I will not get dragged into pissing contests but I will learn from anyone who posts something that keeps me free, legal and armed. | Per requests and as an act of good-faith I removed 2 of my posts from this thread that may have led to problems with another user, who should know that if they "quoted me" on their posts that they leave up, there is not anything I can do about that except not see it if it's 'Ignore-list' current. If folks want to really clean-up past posts/problems then IMHO it should be a 2-way effot of genuine intent to keep the peace, not left up as a static point of reference to keep referring back to. Spring cleaning all done, and I am out of this thread, although I hope others with good input still add to it to keep us CC-permit types out of trouble for good actions that back-fired. That's a rap, Canis-Lupus

| When the time comes all bets are off. the little lady with a ccw in wallmart that stopped the kife attack with her gun is a good thing. She got involved . Felony was being committed. She was just in line watching it go down. Thank God for people willing to get involved. Young vic. is still with us. |

| The "myth" of Citizen's Arrest is folly at best and could prove financially devastating or deadly at worst. Leave the arresting to the "On Duty" LEO's, that's what they get paid for. Mas, Massad Ayoob, covered this in his book, In The Gravest Extreme. If you own a gun for defense I strongly suggest you buy and read that book. My copy is from the 1980's and I read it yearly. It's a little "dated" but it still holds true today. Biker |
