The decider makes way for the ruler

Almost eight years ago the incumbent president uttered one of his first Bushisms, a phrase that would crop up again and again during his two terms in office; “If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I’m the dictator.”

In early 2006 Bush delivered perhaps his second most memorable verbal spout by announcing to the world that he was “the decider”.

This weekend president elect Obama became known as “the ruler”.

Valerie Jarrett, Co-Chair of the Obama transition team, appeared on Meet the Press this weekend and used the phrase in describing the working model for the transition between the Bush administration and the new Obama regime.

“Given the daunting challenges that we face, it is important that president elect Obama is prepared to really take power and begin to rule day one,” Jarrett told Tom Brokaw.

“We will be working closely with his [Bush's] administration, we will be reviewing the agencies now, he will be making key personnel decisions, he gets national security briefings everyday now as well.” she said

Clearly Jarrett is not aware that the very foundation of the United States of America consists of a government of the people, by the people, for the people. No one is ruled over and no one does any ruling, unless this is part of the “change” agenda, which already seems to be changing itself.

presidents do rule though. It should be a rule that the american people want though not some idea that they just make up or want themselves. Their are certain executive decisions presidents decide on and do completely themselves that do not go through congress. One example that obama will use his executive power on will be to lift the ban on stem cell research.

He will also ban concealed carry, bring back the AWB and make it more difficult for anyone to purchase a firearm. Obama is in the business of violating your civil rights, and he doesn't care what anyone thinks.

He has publicly said that he will "spread the wealth around" - which is the core of socialism, any way you turn it. The right to own property is a human right. Billionaires have the right to their uninhibited enjoyment of their wealth, just as the rest of us have the right to property ownership. That does not change, regardless of what the economy may do.

After he steals our guns, our property and our right to determine the path of our own lives and generally reduces us to the status of dogs, why doesn't he just fulfill his Stalinist role and send us all to die in the tundra?

First you remove the guns then you can do what ever you want. That is why there is such a push to disarm the citizens. The Marxist in every country knew that. It is no different here.

In order for that to happen, we have to actually let it happen. I don't know about you HK, but I don't care how much more gun control passes in the next administration (up to and including a confiscation scheme) nobody's taking mine away. "From my cold dead hands."

+1 on that. I will not go down without a fight and I am sure a lot more feel the same. That being said I am sure not looking foward to a fight. Ka sa ra sa ra or how ever you spell it (what ever will be will be).

Same thing the U.S. citizens said following Katrina... before they were relieved of their guns by force by the National Guard and State Police...
Or killed resisting arrest...

Guns most have yet to have returned to their surviving owners...

Same thing the now disarmed Citizens of England, Australia and Canada, et.al. said, before their own versions of SWAT etc., made a few public examples of individuals on camera ...

The time to fight about it is BEFORE the legislation/executive order(s) gets passed...

IF we are not PROACTIVE about this, those of us that do not want to go to prison for 10 years for each illegal weapon in our possession; (thanks to the stinking NICS system that we allowed to get passed) or shot dead in our own homes resisting arrest, or go hide out in the wilderness will bend over and take it...
