I believe that Obama has seen the writing on the wall. He knows if his administration attacks the 2nd he wont get reelected. I am hoping that we have a decent republican candidate in 2012 to put up a decent effort. I know and like McCain but he's is not what we need.

This nominee is no friend for us, but neither was the dork she was replacing, it will not change the makeup of the Supreme court at all.

What will be funny is if she does get the NOD, she may have to opt out on opinions of her court that is pending appeal to the High court. It may actually be an advantage over another judge is a few instances. (very few)

This nominee may affect the balance of Scotus on 1A or "Civil Rights" issues, but she won't change the balance on 2A issues.

This pick is to the left of the Justice she was nominated to replace...

Again, it is being overlooked that Souter was not one of the 2-3 justices to be potentially replaced during the current and the next Presidential terms, whomever is in office...

The balance of power in the SCOTUS could most certainly be tipped to the left over the next 4-8 years...

Souter is actually much better then Sotomayor even though they hold similar opinions on the 2nd Amendment...

Obama would be hard pressed to find a sitting minority judge that was more to the left then Sotomayor...
