| Interesting article in regards to the NRA lack of influence in regards to Sotomayor supreme court bid. They even listed some of the NRA endorsed Senators who received an "A-rating for their 2nd amendment position and are expected to vote in favor of Sotomayor. Everybody knows her position on the 2nd amendment no matter how much she tries to duck & dodge direct 2nd admendment questions. Sen. Chuck Shumer (D-NY) who is notoriously anti-gun is probably on Sotomayor's speed dial. NRA falls short in bid to block Sotomayor - Yahoo! News |

| We as gun owners are possibly losing our touch. Granted the anti 2A goverment is in power, but any gunowner and 2A believer should join and support any orginization that battles for our rights. If you meet those criteria and are reading this and not a supporter of those orginizations then shame on you. |

| What if you believe that said organization is not really fighting for our rights, but merely a front to pacify the pro 2A crowd into believing that they need not do anything more than pay thier dues and expect to have thier rights protected?

| The NRA was never going to endorse any Obama nominee to the Supreme Court. The idea that they promise to "punish" individuals who voted for her won't weigh as heavily on voters minds as the state of the economy, health care or immigration. Dems knew they we're never going to get the endorsement from the NRA and they don't care. Even the NRA would have to admit that Obama's spending spree is more politically meaty than Sotomayor siting on the bench, wise Latina or not. My gauge of how effective an entity is comes from media. The media and the Dems consistently demonize the NRA and Karl Rove for example. Why do they do that, because those fu&*ers are effective! Media hates the idea that someone else beats them at their own game of influencing the outcome, whatever that outcome is on whatever the issue is. Media's number one purpose isn't to educate or inform you, it's to entertain you and generate revenue for its parent company. Knowing that to be the case puts Fox, CNN, NBC, ABC and CBS to name a few examples into the proper perspective for me. |

| I too have notice several times lately that the NRA was not holding the line like the have in the past, and not just on 2A issues. I'm a benefactor member and have been for about 30 years now, but I'm starting to have major concerns about the NRA. No doubt, it's the most effective lobby in DC, but are they still in tune with the majority of members? As an additional safe guard, I've also joined GOA, Gun Owners of America, who have actually taken the fight to the anti-gun crowd time and again. If I find another organization that is anywhere nearly as proactive as GOA I'll join them too. I suggest that all of us try to sign up as many NEW members for either or both organizations as quickly as possible to help stem the oncoming tide of judicial and legislative anti-gun/anti-2A headaches headed our way. |

| It's great to have the NRA and other organization fighting for our 2A rights. But as long as anti gun socialist keep getting re-elected their lobbying will fall on deaf ears. Recent history shows these people have nothing to fear. The members of this board that supported Obama and his socialist administration have nothing to complain about. They got the change that were promised. Get ride of the 2A and no more crime. Tax the rich into poverty and live free off the government. Money does grow on trees doesn't it? At least it does in Washington DC.

Notice the NRA doesn't focus on protecting "assault weapons," it mainly focuses on self defense weapons and hunting (handguns, shotguns and hunting rifles.) Yet semi-auto and full-auto rifles and carbines are the MOST important weapons to protect. How are we supposed to defend against all enemies foreign and domestic with Ruger LCP's and bolt action rifles, when they have FN FAL's, M4's, AK's, etc? Look at the NRA's stance at NFA weapons, they compromise too much. A real 2A defender should NOT compromise at all, the right of the people SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. There is too much corruption and politics inside the NRA. It has been infiltrated and dismantled from thier former roots. It is up to We the People to defend our rights, and not just pay our dues and expect an organization to take care of them for us after it has shown itself to be compromised.

| That's a good point, because an assault weapon ban could effect the homeowners who live in border towns across from mexico. The criminal gang elements in Mexico is getting bolder & bolder, people are fearing that it will spill over into US border towns. The gang members definitely have AKs. and the "Coyote" smugglers are just as dangerous. |

NRA serves its purposes... but "defending" my constitutional rights from the socialists who would strip me of them isn't one of them. I think Cooter nailed this one.
