 Congressman Joe Wilson did what the 534 other members of Congress did not have the guts to do... He stood up for what was right and called Obama out on his lie... Its about time somebody grew a pair in Washington... We need more like Joe Wilson (R-SC) Joe Wilson and Michele Bachman (R-MN) Congresswoman Michele Bachmann. The overriding characteristic of President Obama’s National Socialist healthcare is forced equality of consumption, a major step in the direction of egalitarian distribution of income. Emphasis is upon the word forced. As we see with the widespread town hall protests against the President’s proposed National Socialist healthcare proposals, people do not willingly surrender the fruits of many years’ labor to the government in the name of an undefined abstraction called the common good. Most notable was the fact that pro-gun congressman Joe Wilson of South Carolina -- rated "A" by GOA -- decided to call out the President because of his... well, shall we say... his failure to communicate truthfully. No matter what you think about the time and place Wilson chose to tell President Obama "You lie," the facts are on Joe Wilson's side. The President lied repeatedly throughout his speech. Even the Associated Press -- hardly a bastion of conservatism -- noted that the President failed to accurately articulate the truth in several instances. Wilson's opponent, however, is trying to use the national attention on Wilson to raise money for his campaign. In fact, Wilson's opponent says he raised over $1 million in the first 48 hours following the speech. It's up to the pro-gun community to respond in kind and help Wilson through this difficult time. But first, who is Rep. Joe Wilson and what has he done for gun owners? Not only has he consistently supported the Second Amendment with his votes, he has also cosponsored needed gun rights legislation. This year, he has cosponsored two reciprocity bills in the House -- including the GOA-supported HR 1620, which protects Vermont-style carry -- plus a bill that removes certain restrictions on the interstate sale of firearms. In previous years, Wilson was the chief sponsor of the Citizen's Self-Defense Act, a bill that would protect individuals who successfully defend themselves or others from violent attack, only to find themselves in the clutches of anti-gun prosecutors. And when a conference committee watered down GOA's language to arm airline pilots following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Rep. Wilson stepped up to the plate. He successfully pushed through legislation to allow all commercial pilots (not just passenger pilots) to carry guns. Further, when TSA bureaucrats dragged their feet once armed pilots became the law of the land, Wilson authored yet another bill that streamlined the certification process. Here's the bottom line: Joe Wilson couldn't stand listening to the President dish out lie after lie. He says his emotions got the best of him, and he yelled "You lie" in the midst of a presidential address. He regrets the time and place he did it... but he is not sorry for what he said. He was ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. He did what millions of Americans -- many people like you -- would have loved to do. How many of us would like the chance to tell the President, to his face, to stop lying? It's ironic. The President stood there on national television and said his opponents were lying. But when Joe Wilson countered that it was the President who was, in fact, lying... it was Wilson who came under attack from the liberal media. That's why we need to stand with Rep. Joe Wilson. If we lose a pro-gun stalwart because of his willingness to call out the President on his lies, it will be a crying shame. They are actually drafting a House Resolution showing their disapproval! When Obama LIED! Representative Offices - United States House of Representatives, 111th Congress, 1st Session Congress has better & more cost-effective and vastly more important things to do then spend time obfuscating the fact that the President Lied and Congressman Wilson called him on it; all of Congress should have stood up and called him on it; respect is earned and is never unconditional regardless of who you are. Besides the fact that the 1st Amendment is still a Constitutionally Protected Activity. Additionally, any Reprimand, Sanction etc., by Congress would be a Unconstitutional Abuse of Power. The President has done nothing but Tax & Spend us into Generational Debt & Oblivion and be Speaker Pelosi & Senate Leader Harry Reid's Puppet... The President did in fact lie, and we are proud that one of our watchdogs in Washington finally grew a pair and called him out on it, thus doing their job; The President clearly lied about at least 5 core items in his speech before the televised joint session of Congress; and the Speaker of the House is not the only one who knows it. Any further Reprimands, Sanctions Etc., (and those that support/oppose them) against Congressman Joe Wilson will be remembered come 2010-2012; Americans are keeping a list. | Joe wilson will be beaten in the next election. I promise you that. Who in their right mind would ever disrespect our President like that. He should have been threw out in my opinion. I seen on the news the next day where they had fact checked the president and they said that he was not lying. Why is everybody so mad over a bill that is not even final. Their is still a long way to go on this one. Hopefully we can get health care passed with a public option soon. America can't afford not to. I hate the government has to intervene in this situation but you can thank our big health care company's for it. Don't blame obama blame your republican voting ceo's of the health company's for worrying about profit more than care for the people. Obama is just trying to fix their greed problem. |

| He broke protocol. Protocol indicates he should apologize on the House floor for breaking protocol. He should apologize, in the correct way, for breaking protocol. Nothing more, nothing less. This is not an isolated or unprecedented outburst. Our Congressmen and Senators sometimes have outbursts and say inappropriate things. It happens. When it does, traditionally, apologies are issued on the floor. This is not an issue of right and wrong (he is right!!), it is an issue of protocol and manners. This is how people with widely divergent viewpoints, often very emotionally charged, can function as a group. History has indicated the correct and civil thing to do is apologize on the floor of the House, he should apologize. If he does not, the House should slap him on the wrist, which is what they are doing. And yes, President Obama is a liar. If his pants were on fire, it would be a 5 alarm fire. The California wildfires would have nothing on him. I believe he has the potential to be the Hitler of the United States. I am praying we do not have to have a full blown revolution to preserve that which is most dear to us. Peace.
