Maine's Constitution states:
"Maine: Every citizen has a right to keep and bear arms and this right shall never be questioned. Art. I, § 16 (enacted 1987, after a collective-rights interpretation of the original provision).
1819: "Every citizen has a right to keep and bear arms for the common defence; and this right shall never be questioned." Art. I, § 16. "
NEVER BE QUESTIONED!
No ambiguity here. It's clear.Permit = permission
For a RIGHT

| | Yeah, go figure. In this country,"Land of the FREE", isn't it funny how you need permission to do just about everything except commit a crime or have children. The phrase, "Open to interpretation", comes to mind when referring to our constitutional rights. |

| | The CCW permit is not about you. It helps the police define the good guy and gals from the bad ones. We used to hang the bad and did not have as many as long as we do now. We seem to be continually paying some new price for our freedoms. I still exercise mine as often as possible. I have a CCW permit in Arizona ($65 dollars for 5 years) but I openly carry as often as concealed. Why? Just because I can and to remind others that we have the right to. I work to change the things I can and forget the rest. Maybe you should try to get something on the ballot that clarifies and or corrects your issue? You never know until you try how much support you’ll get. You seem to know a lot about your state constitution. You really have done your research so what is your next move? Good luck! |

| | I was in business for 15 years, profitable one I might add. I came to the conclusion that you have free enterprise if you can afford it. |
