I am a business owner. It is tough to read people and their intentions when they walk into my store. Do they have a gun? If they do, what are their intentions? I for one would rather have a gun carrier that is licensed in my store to perhaps offer a level of protection from someone who is carrying without license with bad intentions. That is how I feel as a storeowner. I still have to respect any business who thinks they are safer and better served by posting a "no guns allowed" sign. The bad guys will ignore it anyway. Why are they always trying to tie our hands?????

In some states it is a punishable offense to ignore the signs, in others (as here in Iowa) they can only ask that you leave...if you don't leave then it becomes a punishable offense. If I have read correctly, it is a punishable offense in WI..so I wouldn't risk it by carrying in those locations or spending my cash at those establishments. The suggestions about talking to the owner/manager about the policy seems reasonable..if they are reasonable they just may listen and re-evaluate their position...if not...good-bye.

I believe it is policy at most cell phone places not to allow carry of any kind at their locations. Just because it's not posted doesn't mean it's not policy.

I also try to not do business with companies that restrict carry. Why not just cc as some mention? It's the principle of our beliefs. Why shop somewhere that doesn't want you. I wouldn't shop at a store that had the best prices and gave away free donuts and coffee if it supported the "Brady's". Would you? In effect that's what they are doing. Yes, it's private property rights. Yes I respect that right. They should understand I have the right to shop elsewhere.

Starbucks is a great example of support by following state law. Sears/Kmart changed their policy from no carry to following state law a couple of years ago.

We can make a difference if we choose to.

I wish all companies were more like starbucks. Starbucks policy is if it's legal in the state you live in it's is ok with them. I am not a trendy person. But since anti-gunners are boycotting starbucks I have been going to starbucks and paying with $2.00 bills representing the 2nd ammendment.
There is an excellent idea ... never thought of paying at a store that allows a person to carry with $2 bills ... that is something I am going to have to start doing around where I live

I'd like to support WalMart, but their business is almost entirely filled with goods from China. They are China's single largest customer, and that, frankly, puts Americans out of work.I'm also not fond of their business practices. I don't think the other 2 are local for me, in northeast Ohio.

Where are you getting this from?
The OP isn't dictating his own rules; he clearly states that he is avoiding Sprint because he disagrees with their policy.
That's certainly his right. How does it infringe on the rights of others?

I always CC and agree with the folks that have stated that others have a right to not allow weapons on their property, I set the rules on my property as well and want them respected. That said, I also have the right to spend my hard earned money in establishments that share my vision and philosophy. I love Buffalo Wild Wings, but since reading about their corporate anti gun policies I have not been back.

Same applies to some celebrities that have opinions that are contrary to my beliefs and chose to use their fame to push their agenda, I choose not to spend my money on their movies, CDs ect.

Yes, I know this will not affect them in any way, but to me it is the right thing to do.

I live in the Las Vegas area and we have had wacko's walk into grocery stores and just start shooting. For reasons like this I have a CCW. I feel that I have the right to carry and I have the right to spend my money in the safest places possible. I realize that I have no way of knowing who is going to crack and go on a shooting spree, but to protect myself and my family in the best surroundings possible, I spend my money at business' that allow me to carry. Our local Wal-Mart at one time had a sign that read "No Weapons, unless licensed". That is OK with me too because I believe that the CCW is easy to get as long as you can qualify and if you can't then maybe you should not have a gun on you.

I just don't think of it as "dictating my own rules" as it is my RIGHT to shop where I want to shop, and I don't want to shop at any establishment that requires me to leave my protection in my car (for some thief to break into). and that is MY $0.02.
