I seem to remember some legal problems somewhere with wrist supported sling shots. Does anyone know where this might be an issue, like in specific states? I have one in my car trunk, and also am thinking of carrying a couple of arrows as they can be used with a sling shot. Since in Kalifornia, you must be a relative of the governor or police chief to carry a hand gun.

Really? I hope this is a joke, wrist supported slingshots are legal, you can buy them anywhere sporting goods are sold. My question is how fast can you get your slingshot and your arrows out of your trunk? Couldn't you just drive to safety? Possibly look into pepper spray if you don't want to persue a ccw. Sorry but arrows seem like they would be difficult to aim with a slingshot

No, it is no joke. They call that mode a "sling bow" and there are several types of a small attachment to hold the arrow in place, they are normally called a whisker biscuit, and are sold on ebay, Amazon, etc. I don't want to access anything quickly, just want the ability to get something if necessity calls for something a bit better than a rock. It would be faster than having to unlock a gun in a locked trunk, then access the ammo from some other location. Just depends on your AO.

I'm sorry if my last post sounded rude, I was pretty sure you were joking. What county do you live in? It my be easier to get a permit then you were led to believe. Permits in CA are issued by police chiefs and county sheriff's, if your police chief wont issue the sheriff may or vice versa. Good luck

Wait about 2 years. Change is in the wind due to the recent UOC ban.
The CCW lawsuit aganist San Diego (Peruta v San Diego) is currently being appealed.
This was one of the recent CA CCW lawsuits in which the judge ruled that CA's "may issue" CCW system was legal because a non-prohibited person had the ability to open carry an unloaded handgun as an alternative to being granted a CA LTC permit.
Now that unloaded open carry of a handgun is banned, the courts will have to revisit this ruling. Which may result in "shall issue" CCW reform for CA.

That being said, I still have to keep up with CA state laws regarding weapons as I have to travel there.

I have yet to find the CA PC which requires the separation of firearm and ammo (other than "loaded") in a vehicle. 12026.1 only requires the firearm locked in a container OR in the trunk (need not be in a container in that case) and mentions nothing about ammo storage. You should be able to place your unloaded pistol AND loaded mag in a single locked container near you in your vehicle (worded that way in case you're a passenger). This would also be legal in a GFSZ.

If anyone can find the laws which contradict this, PLEASE let me know.

I keep a 3-number combo lock container in my center console and I can get it out and load it in 10-15 sec. If one has enough time to ready a sling-bow setup, certainly there's enough time for the gun.

I don't know if San Diego has more restrictive transport laws, so you should check. I searched briefly and didn't find any. As far as I know, the state preempts all.

Also, you probably ought to check with an attorney for what you want to do. This is just screaming for some LEO, DA, judge, or jury to jack you up for something.

Thanks, yes I have a couple of combo lock boxes that I use when in Az, Tx, NM, places that I can carry on the seat next to me, and then when in a place that requires it in a box when I leave the car, just slide it under the seat. But in Kalifornia, it is forbodden. So was thinking a slingshot and arrows velcrowed to the top of the trunk could be used in a pinch. I do feel nervous taking a gun around in Calif. never have been stopped, just have several friends who have been stopped and their guns taken, some have taken a year or longer to get back. Just the way it is here, depending on who you run into and how their sheriff is.

Yes, using a 3 digit lock and loading would be quick, but if the situation calls for a "taking a position" exposing a gun in Calif. may be more of a problem than a sling shot. Well, that's my thinking.
