If you like Springfield Armory, look at the EMP. It was built from the ground up to be 9mm and also comes in .40 caliber. I carry it under a t-shirt in a Blade-tech IWB tuckable holster. Some of your concerns about printing are normal, but so many people carry cell phones that a small bulge just goes un-noticed.
