No. I'm a veteran and there is a big sign outside no weapons of any kind. Also the told us this during new patient orientation. It's a federal institution and they have armed VA police on site. Don't carry lol
Is legal to carry in a VA hospital? I'm taking my dad to one tomorrow and want to know what I should do.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Leave it in the glove box. That's what I do.
The building is:
-owned or leased by the federal government
-federal employees regularly go there as a part of their official duties
therefore it is a 'federal facility' and carry is prohibited.
Buildings no. Parking lot in car yes - unless you end up Mumbai-wannabe hunting, then everything is off....

No weapons? So that means leaving my knife in the parking lot too? I still might carry my Leatherman.
Thanks for the info.
Hmmm...interesting. We were on our way home from a convention in Tennessee and after a long drive, we saw this big empty park and decided to stop at what we thought is "a park" where we can stop for a short time leg stretch. The VA Hospital I am talking to here is located in the REpublic of Illinois. Anyway, it is understandable that our guns would have been at the back with our stuffs. Not even 5 minutes of stopping, we saw a police car stopped behind ours. (We were about to leave anyway...) Hubby went to meet with the officers and he was told that it is illegal to stop anywhere around the area. We were escorted out of the grounds to the gate.
I suppose that if that is the case with us, how much more for you?

I'm a retired VA Nurse and even if it is in your vehicle and they find out, it's federal offense to even have one on Federal property.
They'll take tour leatherman and give you a ticket
