    Again we only follow the wording without knowing the historical context. The forefathers did not include any restrictions on convicted felons because there were no violent criminals allowed to continue to live. Dead men don't carry guns. In the early days of this country, the courts weren't so quick to label criminals who committed robbery and such as "felons for life" after they completed their jail time. If criminals did commit a violent crime leading to severe trauma or death, the courts simply used a short rope and a tall tree (or gallows) to exact justice. Hanging was the standard remedy to the problem. With our "more gentle and kinder" justice system, which the forefathers did not foresee, we have created monsters that our forefathers just didn't tolerate. If we want to return to the original intent of the second amendment (which I endorse) than we need to find a better "solution" as to how to handle violent pedophiles, rapists and murderers to protect the public. Prison is not the answer as they eventually get released and return to old habits.
