You can go to the state department of justice site. We just adopted the castle doctrine. Cow permits are easy to get. You need an 8 hour course on the law, a simple qualification shoot, and file an application with the sheriff in your county of residence. Usually takes about 6 weeks to net the permit.

Welcome to NC. Buy yourself a good car safe as there are about as many places you cant carry as there are places you can carry. Open carry is legal and free just so you know. I went ahead and got my CCW anyway.

Yes, the time was cut to 45 days but that is not total processing time. The count does not start untill all supporting documents are received. Things like the mental health clearance can take quite a while after the application is submitted especially for new residents.
