I am all about gun rights and my heart goes out to the victim and her family but my only issue is with the response on this site. Just because she was not allowed to carry a gun, the results would have been different. A gun is not the ultimate protector that it is made out to be. I would think the majority of criminal assault would not have turned out different with or without a gun. Having a gun only saves you in certain types of crimes if you have enough time to use it. If this poor victim had time to 'sit & cower' in the corner of the elevator, then she also had time to drop her bags and then draw and fire her weapon if necessary.
If she would have had a concealed handgun on her person (and 'knew' how to use it properly) her 'chances of surviving' this horrible attack would have been greatly improved in her favor.
