Default Appeal Letter In Nj help

I live in Nj I was denied a carry permit by the chief of police in my township. I need help on how to word my appeal letter now i have a Utah carry permit and had NJ carry permit in the passed and this township I live in also granted me 2 purchase permits and id card. I work at an institution for the criminaly insane. My denial letter states that i have to be attacked before I can even be considered for a permit. Me and my wife go out and some times run into individuals that where in the institution i work in.

I think the best advise I could offer you, is to contact an Pro 2nd Amendment Attorney in your area.

You can visit the NRA home page, and most likely get a list of Attorneys in your area.

I wish I could offer more sound advise, but given the Judges Statement, an Attorney is your best chance to get the information you need.Good Luck, let us know what you come up with.

    Default where to begin

The attorney couldn't hurt, if you are going to contact one call Evan Nappen. There is truly no other firearms attorney in NJ of his caliber. Now onto why you were denied, NJ has a justifiable need clause to get a CCW. This has been interpreted by our nightmare of a judiciary to require the same standard as a self defense shooting. Meaning you were justifies in defending your life therefore you have to be in imminent danger to even be considered. Even with a direct threat you would more than likely be denied. Consider joining the Nj2as it is a w grassroots organization working for CcW here in NJ.

I read this rather interesting description of the New Jersey process from another discussion forum. New Jersey is one of those states that can simply deny you if they so choose. Having a similar job, my brother thought I could use the same justification for a New Jersey carry permit. The problem is that the legal mindset in New Jersey simply does not allow for this right.

"My NJ permit was good for two years. In order to get it I had to get a letter of need, fill out two or three sets of paperwork, take an NRA course, go see a shrink and get an 'okay to carry' letter from them, then go to the police academy and take a written test. If I passed I was allowed to shoot the FBI 25 yard combat course under the Lt's observation. Had to shoot it three times with a cumulative score of 80%. After all that the judge had the final say. Every two years is cost me between $300 and $600 to maintain my permit. Oh, and I could only carry a pistol I had qualified with."
