Does anyone have info on the new ccp special added tag class that miss is offering. It is supposed to allow you to carry anywhere except court buildings.

Mississippi has an endorsement that can be added to a valid "Firearms Permit". Eight hours of instruction from a Department of Public Saftey approved instructor is required. It is basically the Tennesseee Handgun Permit Class. After receiving the certificate you take said certificate to the DPS and they will put a "IC" (Instructor Certified) sticker on the back of your permit. See the link below and pay close attention to pages 10 and 11. I hope this helps.

Yes, you just need to take an eight hour CCW class and then take your certificate and current permit to the firearms unit. They will add an endorsement to your permit that allows you to carry in all places other than police stations and detention facilities. It's bill 506 if you want to look it up.

Mississippi has a "Firearms Permit". You can get the endorsement by completing the Dept. of Public Saftey class which is eight hours of instruction and range time. It is basically the Tennessee Handgun Permit class. The DPS requires that you take the class from someone who is on their approved list of instructors. Here is a link to a list of instructors.

The link below has good info on the laws in Mississippi. Pay close attention to pages 10 and 11 as you will see the difference in the places you can carry by having the endorsement.

No. Mississippi calls theirs a Firearm Permit. Tennessee calls theirs a Concealed Handgun Permit. Each state has their own wording. In other states it's called a Concealed Carry Permit and so on...

If you get the endorsement to the standard permit you are allowed to carry everywhere except a police station, detention facility or court room while it is in session.

mrijeff, if you go to MSGunOwners site there is lots of info and discussions about the laws and regulations.
