Default Herkimer County, NY Restricted Recreational and your experiences.

I recently received my permit and its stamped restricted recreational as expected. It says Hiking, Hunting, Fishing, and Target. Are there any Herkimer county residents on here? How and when do you carry with this type or permit? When it says "hiking" does that mean I can go for a walk down the street and carry? Looking to hear others experiences with this type of permit. I don't want to screw myself and lose it!

Most new applicants initially get a restricted permit. The restrictions can be lifted but most licensing officers will do this only after a year or so. Possibly longer if you are young. If the permit is for carry then you may carry the gun concealed and loaded to and from the activity. The judge may n ot issue a carry permit and then place a restriction that denies carry. In such cases he must issue a premise permit. So if the permit contains the wording "license to carry" you're good to go.

It does say "License to carry pistol". So it basically I can basically carry to and from a very wide variety of recreational activities.
