    Default Best 22 mag ammo?

Just bought a NAA Mini Pug looking for reliable ammo. The Pug is my backup for my 40cal. Any advice of info will be welcomed.

I have owned a NAA mini for many years and been very happy. NAA has customer service second to none and their product line is very good. And I do NOT work for them. As far as the ammo go to the 'North American Arms Message Board' and ask on their forum. The forum is like any other except it focuses on NAA products. Personally I use in my NAA mini-revolver CCI MAXI-MAG HP which is a 40 grain jacketed hollow point which travels about 1800 fps. It is VERY VERY loud and I strongly reccomend you use hearing protection while practicing. NAA also has a line of holsters on their website. Send me a PM if you have any questions.

I would also recomend the CCI Blazer brand.

I have tired and like the CCI Maxi Mag but I think the hottest round I have tried was the .22 Magnum Winchester Super X. Have also had good luck with the Armscor .22 magnum but some people report their brass is thinner. Both of the Armscor and the Winchester were very accurate rounds in my rifle.

CCI Maxi Mag's 40grain JHP. I've never had them not fire or under perform in any revolver or auto I have. As BigSlick said, the Magnum Winchester Super X is hot load and very impressive.

While certainly better than nothing rimfire ammunition with it's failure to fire ratio isn't something I'd be comfortable with relying on as a primary or secondary for self defense

Hornady has recently introduced a 22 Magnum Critical Defense Round -- Midway USA has them on-sale in their January 2012 flyer.

Depends on what your firearm "likes", In this instance (pug), it probably doesnt matter, as the barrel is so short, and the distances you would be trying to use it is not feasibly very far... so the "hottest" round would be my personal choice here...

However, my Marlin 22 Mag rifle HATES the Winchester ammo, wont shoot anything smaller than 10 inch groups with it at 100 yds, but ALL other ammo I have tried in it shoots no larger than 1 inch groups at 100 yds.... (when I do my part)

CCI Maxi Mags for me. To be fair the High Standard 22mag derringer I use as a back up is so short I doubt it makes much difference.
