Default Winter concealment pocket pistol story

Don't kill me, but an old friend and I were trading old "Living in the hood stories" One of which brought me to the mid 90's during the drug wars in Camden, Nj.

I explained to him how things were so bad near my home that when I went to the corner store I wore oversized mittins with my beretta 21a-25 cal tucked in the right glove.

I know I know I can hear you "Thisis guy was out of his mind!"

But I digress my fellow 2a guy or gal aka polite gun nut. With a little duct tape lining the inside of the mitt the gun functoned perfectly lol. Don't ask me how I know that wink lol those were deadly times. Stick ups were regular.

    Just thought I would share.

Be safe aim strait and don't be late on the drawl yall lol

Actually, having lived way too close to Camden in the '90's I fully understand your desire to have a gun 'handy'! Pun intended! I used to service machines at RCA before it closed. There were many an evening that I wished I had a gun just to walk from the plant to the van!

    The mitten idea is ingenious!

I hope you were carrying legally...

I carry a .40 with a 15 round magazine and I dont even live in a city that dangerous. I wouldnt carry a subcompact .25 auto even if I lived in the richest city in the country. Definitely not a round I would trust my life with, especially if being jumped or killed wasnt a matter of if, but when. I hope you carry a better handgun now.

    Default How many shots?

One independent blogger did some field testing of pocket carry guns a while back, which I found fascinating, and which made me re-think the whole subject. Here is the article: Carteach0: Shooting pocket pistols..... from the pocket?!?

Basically, when he fired a Beretta .380 semi-auto from inside a pocket, the expended casing would "stovepipe" in the ejection port, rendering the firearm (temporarily) useless for a second shot. Three attempts yielded identical results.

I'm wondering just how well this .25 cal pistol actually functioned in a mitten, which is just about as confined as a pocket? I can't imagine that it would have been good for more than one bang.

    And - .25 cal - moderately better than a sharp stick. :P

Well Eagle, in the Socialist Republic of New Skersey a ccw is a rare bird. In other words unless you have a note, from a progressive dem judge forget it

    I chose life over death.

As far as choise in guns? At the time I owend a springfield 1911, rugar security six 357, s&w model 64 38 sp alongside of a few other guns. All legally purchased.

When there is an unjust law there is ni law at all.

Today I carry a beretta 8040 with an ex mag. As a backup like I will ever need it I carry for fun, novelty and nasty sting a NAA Pug 22 mag.

RCA wow right down town and near N Camden. That area was a transit point for on foot thieves. Glad you never experienced anything crazy like myself and my friend did.

Lol at sharp stick. The few times I did use the 25 cal the bg was how can I say faster than carl louis. Just the presentation of a gun or an unexpected bang can work.

If you line the mitten or pocket with duct tape it will allow the gun to cycle without being snagged.
