Seems justified to me. I know what I would have done had I been able.
6 young thugs beating up on an elderly man (veteran).
Would the victim have been justified in using deadly force if he was armed in this scenario?
What say you?

Gun free zones are safe havens...........for criminals.
Laws govern the lesser man, Morals govern the greater man.
A few years ago down here we had an older man (65+ yrs) beaten by just 2 thugs. He managed to get back to his car (where his gun was) and the BGs came back for more. He shot both of them at very close range, one of whom died. No charges. Good for him.

Can you fill in the blanks for: ability, opportunity, and jeopardy? I can't see the video right now, but if you can place those in a written statement to be read in court. You were probably justified, or on you way for a good case to support you.
The way I understand it here in Minnesota you must feel that your life is threatened and you have no way of escape. In this case probably yes.
I hope they are found and charged. As for the OP's question, I do believe justification existed, even if there were juveniles involved, especialy with so many assailants. When you are being beaten, there isn't much time to ask, "Excuse me, are any of you juveniles?" But I will say that there is one thing I found very interesting about the attack...it happened so quickly, would the victim have even had time to draw and shoot?

"Officer, I thought I was going to die." Or... "I thought they were going to kill me." 6 guys? Yea, justified.

Oh Hell Yes! BUT...
I doubt he would've even been able to draw his weapon. The attack was from behind and VERY quick. I just looked again, and it looks to me like the attack lasted about 5 - 7 seconds. The video isn't clear enough to show whether he reacted to the sound of the group coming at him from behind, but regardless, once they passed each other, I doubt there was enough time to draw before they got back to him. Whatever, if he were armed, I would hope that he would be deemed justified in either showing or shooting to prevent/stop the attack if he did have long enough to do it.

Gun Control: The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her own pantyhose, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to Police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound.
