Hmmm...Bush the Elder banned the import of assault weapons in 1989.

Ronald Reagan signed the Mulford Act in 1967, banning the carrying of firearms in any public place in California. In a 1991 speech, he proclaimed his support of the Brady Bill.

Rudy Giuliani's administration sued 26 gun manufacturers in 2000.

NY governor George Pataki signed some of the strictest gun control laws on the books.

Lets not forget about the "assault weapons" ban under President Clinton and the passing of the Brady Bill under President Clinton or the fact that 70% of Democrats in 2010 favored strict gun control laws.
