Not until after the elections when hopefully we can get Reid replaced with a Pro-gun Senate majority leader. He is blocking it right now because he knows that there are enough votes in the Senate to get it passed and he doesn't want Obama to have to veto it prior to the upcooming elections.

The bill HR822 was sent to the United States Senate right after the House passed it. The bill will probably be attatched to an unrelated bill to get it passed and signed by Obama. Two years ago a national reciprocity bill was approved in the Senate by a 58 to 42 vote, HOWEVER it would have taken 60 votes for passage to stop the fillibuster. Therefore the bill died. Since then the 2010 election changed the makeup of the Senate making final passage more likely. Will Obama sign it? Well if he is in a tight re-election race he might. Or IF the bill is attatched to another bill that Obama wants it could happen also. The National Parks carry law is an example of this. The NRA-ILA has up to date information about the status of this legislation. I urge you to contact your Senator to support this badly needed law.

Pro-gun yes, has even been endorsed by the NRA. However, first and foremost he is a party man. He wouldn't do anything that would put Obama in a bad situation prior to the upcoming election. If this gets up before the election any choice that Obama made would be costly and cost him votes. He vetoes and loses the pro-gun democrats. He doesn't veto and he loses the liberal left.

Always check with the NRA ILA site. They have the most updated legislative info. Forums like this are helpful, but a lot of times information is incorrect or people put their own spin on it. NRA back a while warned against obtaining info on HR 822 from internet sites/forums because a ton of info that was being shared was incorrect. Stick with NRA ILA. :)
