I went into my local bank the other day to cash a check. After that transaction was done I decided to ask the tellers a question. "Why do you guys have a 'no guns allowed' sign on the front door"

Their response made me laugh - "so no one will try to rob us". And they were completely serious.

I politely said "so someone wants to rob you but then sees that little sign and thinks 'crap now I'm going to have to rob some other place that doesn't have that sign' "- they didn't know what to say after that.

I find it amazing that some people really think that the sign is going to stop criminals from breaking another law.

I refuse to shop at any store that has one of those signs.... Why should I support someone that doesn't support the 2nd amendment? If they want to keep armed law abiding citizens away from their stores so criminals are free to come in and know that the customers of the establishment are unarmed then great! Good for them to give their employees and customers such an unsafe environment to shop... They also don't realize that you can still legally carry if they have one of those signs up. Just if you get catch they can ask you to leave and if you don't your then trespassing....

Hold your horses, you can't make that blanket statement. The legal weight of signs posted varies WIDELY state to state. Some serve a your legal trespass warning, some don't.

Also, I'd find a different bank.

My bank also has such a sign in the window. I asked the branch manager about it and he replied that he thought the sign was not a good idea but that he was only an employee of the holding company. He told me to carry concealed all I wanted in his branch. Now, we both know that carries no weight and if I was "caught", I could be asked to leave or escorted off the property. My response, I will carry everywhere I go, all the time. If your establishment does not want me, fine, I will go somewhere else. Their loss, not mine.

Now, working in the department I do, I get threats of harm, and people meeting me out in the parking lot when I'm done with work. I am a 5'0" woman, who could get blown down by a stiff wind. I was looking forward to being able to carry protection... now, with those signs, I'm trying to figure out how I can still protect myself, without losing my job.

What casino do you work in?

I live in Vegas and play poker daily in a lot of casinos. Actions/threats like you describe just don't happen here.
