    Default Recommendations for replacement

I put in an order for a Kimber Solo over a year ago. I am getting frustrated waiting and seriously considering getting something else. I was thinking of the S&W Shield but might end up in same situation waiting to get it. I have also looked at Ruger and Kahr compacts. Any suggestions ? Other weapons to look at ?

    Thanks !

I just did a search on GunsAmerica and found 2 Kimber Solos... If you're looking for a 9mm 1911 style, I'd look into Springfield EMP, Para hag 9mm. f yu ant a gd accat ereliable 9mm carry, I would recommend a CZ2075.

If you have been waiting that long, ask for your money back. Order on-line to be shipped to a local FFL dealer. (Not the one you ordered it from.)
    Just sayin.

I at times carry my Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry. Bought it right over the counter at a local gun store. I would consider a different model if you really want a Kimber and find a store that has one in stock.

I daily carry a S&W M&P9c. Love that little gun and it's been amazingly reliable since day one. 12+1 capacity, very comfortable to be an all day shooter at the range but won't break the bank, either. The SR9c is another fantastic gun and I'd be missing out if I didn't mention the Glock 19. All 3 of those give you the advantage of being able to use the full-size version's magazines for extra carry or range work and might even help you justify buying their larger version later on. The M&P and Ruger both have an available grip sleeve that will slide over a full-size mag and give you the feel of a full-size gun when/if you'd ever need it. The SR9c comes with one, the M&P9c is made by XGrip or that is what it's called; I have one and it works great. Any of those 3 will be easy for find extra magazines for and there shouldn't be an issue in finding either off the shelf or custom holsters either.

Personally I am not a real big fan of the 1911 platforms.

If you are considering the M&P Shield, may I suggest the Godfather of Polymer Pistols?

If you are looking for single action pistols, the Springfield Armory EMP is a great pistol, although it is quite a bit larger than the Solo. Having fired and carried the Solo, I would maybe look elsewhere for a Solo if that is what you really want, as I feel it is a very comfortable pistol to carry. They are very acurrate. Size and weight are fantastic. very fun to shoot as they are not punishing like other tiny nine's. Otherwise there is always the ultra compact 1911! I am not a fan of the 9mm but had the opportunity to carry one for a week so I did. Maybe look at the XD-S The new polymer .45 from Springfield. Good luck with your search.
