    Dumb question:

That has to be concealed also, right?

The ONLY dumb question is the one you didn't ask!!!!

But, yes it does have to be concealed, even if your state doesn't require it. Concealed carry is to surprize the bad guys.

States that have open carry like PA & VA, I will use my Desantis double mag pouch, but states that don't allow it or squeamish about "printing" I will carry just one extra mag in either my pocket or cargo pocket.

They do have an inside the waist band single mag holder and other IWB holsters comes with a single mag holder attached.

    Default Leatherman Tool Pouch

For my Beretta 9000s (same size as a Glock 26) I use one. Mag is hidden in plain sight.

Locked and loaded in the weapon. I never carry an extra magazine but do have one in my car. If you can not get the job done with one magazine you are in a fire fight not a self defense situation or you are a really bad shot.

Bill, welcome to the site. While I agree that bringing more rounds to self defense situation is not necessary, one has to remember the drill of clearing a misfire on a semi auto. "Drop the mag, rack the slide, insert a fresh mag." This is why I carry mostly a revolver. Sometimes a speed loader, in pocket, most of the time not. If I know I am going in harms way, I usualy don't go, or if i must, I strap on the glock 17C and extra +2 mags. Or the 686.

    Excellent!

Not going is a great idea! Especially if you have no duty to do so.

Were I to deliberately do such, I would have a rifle and a full belt of spare mags.

The pistol would be strictly backup!

Thanks for the welcome. All said is true and i can relate to what you are saying. I have 4 semi auto handguns that I carry with thousands of rounds thru each with no issues at all that is why I have kept these 4. They are XD45C,XD40 service and XDSC9 and KahhrCW9.
I will and do trust my life that any of these firearms will function when needed. That being said I due realize anything mechanical is pron to failure of some sort at anytime. I do not put myself in harms way knowingly so I feel safe leaving the house with a fully loaded magazine in the weapon and one in the glove box if really needed. Sometimes I do slip it in my back pocket but rarely.
