crossbreed supertuck vs. galco kingtuk

Hey guys,
I have been thinking of getting the supertuck for some time because it looks like it will work well for me, as well as the good the things I have heard about it. I was on galco's web site recently and saw there kingtuk holster. It looks to be of similar design to the supertuck from crossbreed. Has anyone used the galco kingtuk? What are your opinions on it? How does it compare to the crossbreed holster, etc. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance. Oh and by the way, I usually carry a kimber ultra cdp.

Not familiar with the Galco, but ended my search for the perfect holster when I got my Supertuck. At 6-2, 265lbs, never thought I could carry IWB. I was wrong. Invisible, fast, secure, and in spite of my spare tire...comfortable. Worth far more than they are asking. G27, worn strong side, 4:00, deep w/forward cant. Can not go wrong. Used for about a year and keeps getting more comfy.

I have the Galco Kingtuk. Don't have the crossbreed supertuck so I can't give a comparison. I am happy with the Galco holster. I have heard a lot of great things about the crossbreed though.

There are actually several makers I know of promoting a Hybrid holster.
Tuckergunleather's the "Answer" which is a two piece leather back. Suede against your skin, smooth out against your pistol. Suede is likely more comfortable than rough out leather, and won't slip around as much as smooth out leather. Sweat and grime can become a problem with both rough out and suede if not cleaned periodically. Tucker offers a leather lining (sewn on not bonded like the Garrett SilentThunder holsters on their site) to the Kydex. Time will tell whether the holes in the Kydex will prove problematic. Should the edges of the kydex be weakened and break, the leather lining will peel away and become a hindrance.
Comp-tac's "Minotaur" is also a two piece back, but is single piece where your pistol is seated. I assume this will shorten the break-in period, as well as shorten the retention life of the holster. Comp-tac does offer replacement Kydex shell at a reduced price to switch from one sized pistol to another.
CrossBreed's "SuperTuck" is a one piece rough out leather back that will require softening of the leather before it becomes comfortable. As with suede, rough out is difficult to keep clean. To the best of my Knowledge, CrossBreed was the third company to offer a "tuck" style holster.
Galco's "KingTuck" Two piece smooth out leather back will require a break in period. Galco is a big corporation, and as such will not likely give any options for customization. To my knowledge they were the last to enter the hybrid market (for whatever that's worth).
Almost forgot to mention the Kholster....Okay, I mentioned it.

All of these holsters have their pluses and minuses. Hybrid holsters in general can be comfortable for long days (after break-in). They afford very little retention as stand alone, and are complicated to put on and take off. As long as you take precautions with your firearm when your belt is not buckled, They do an adequate job of holstering for a few years. Individual performance varies from user to user depending on frequency of use. Each of these holster makers offer differences and features specific to their holster. I suggest looking at all of them, and choose the one that best fits your specific needs and preferences.

A lot of people love their hybrids. A lot of people do not. Isn't that the way with holsters? One person proudly carries on his or her side the same holster someone else has relegated to the junk drawer. Good luck with your search!

I actually have both. I use the Crossbreed when I carry my FS1911A1 and the Galco when I carry my G17.

I think both are great, comfortable for all day wear.

I like the crossbreed for the 1911 format because it is a little longer which displaces the added weight of an all steel firearm a bit better. It also is one piece leather with a "textured" finish on the back which helps to keep it in place better.

The upside to the Galco; (1) two layers of leather - smooth on both sides, requires very little "break-in" however, it does slide just a little after several hours of wear.
(2) No waiting 3-4 weeks to receive and use.

By the way I'm a fairly big guy - 6'1" and 260 and both holsters conceal my FS firearms extreamly well at the 3-4 o'clock position.
Some recomend wearing pants one size larger ... I don't find that necesasary but would suggest a belt with hole every 3/4" instead of the usual
1" for fine tuning fit.

Again, both are great and I would recommend both.

The leather on the back (body side) of the Kingtuck is finished smooth? Humm. I can see that moving around..

I have the CB SuperTuck and love it. More you wear it the better it gets. Over a year with mine and no issues with construction. I liked the texture on the rear of the SuperTuck noting that it does keep it in place both against skin and clothing without being uncomfortable on skin..

I agree on the slightly larger loose fitting pants and a GOOD belt to assist with comfort. It kinda becomes a system..

It does move a little. after about 4 hours it tends to rotate to the rear about 1-1/2". Sometimes, depending on the days wardrobe its the difference between well concealed or kind of obvious (if your looking for a gun).

I will admit that my favorite is the Crossbreed.
