I have a perscription set of Rydon from the Rudy Project. I ordered the Tatical version with polarized transition lenses. I wear these glasses as normal sunglasses and for shooting.
When looking for glasses make sure they meet at least the safety standards as safety glasses (the number is escaping me). This way you know they wont shatter like normal glasses will. For shooting its recommmended that you have mil spec (Z87+?) glasses as these have withstood, IIRC, a shotgun from close distance (15 yrds?) without breaking. Clear glasses that meet these specs can be bought at stores like Walmart.
I can say I've had a few brass hit my glasses but the worst thing was my rifle. My Rydons have interchangable lenses so they can pop in and out easily. I was shoting prone (.30-06) and somehow my eye was too close when I squeezed the trigger. The scope hit my lense and popped it out of the frame. I am positive the glasses prevented scope eye.
Pistol shooting has not had any issue except for the ocassional brass falling down.
