Default Midnight Carry Undercover Lambskin 3/4 Jacket by Licenses2Carry.com

Having a good IWB holster for my handguns works for me most of the time. But then there are occasions where I can't wear them. I don't have much luck with the concealing with a tucked shirt, even with a tuckable IWB holsters. Normally I don't have my shirt tucked in so it isn't a problem. But the past 2 months I've had the pleasure of having the option of carrying in a nice leather jacket. Licensed2carry.com sent me their Midnight Carry Undercover Lambskin 3/4 Jacket to try out.

I have to say that even just as a jacket it is very nice. I used to have a jacket very similar to this that I got from Wilson's leather a while back and this is as good if not better.

So there were a few times recently that I was going somewhere dressed nice (tucked in shirt). Usually I would just wear my Beretta Tomcat in an ankle holster but having the option to carry in the jacket was nice.

It has a long zipper on both side of the jacket that allows you to get to the large pocket. Inside the pocket is elastic sewed to fit the shape of your gun. I am able to fit a full size handgun and still concealed it. But normally I carried my Glock 26 sub-compact. It just felt lighter when wearing the jacket and more comfortable. And I'd also carry an extra mag in the other pocket.

Now I wouldn't be able to draw from this holster as fast as I could with my IWB holster but most of the time I'd be carrying in an ankle holster as I said. I'd feel better about having to draw from the jacket than the ankle holster. And yes, I have practiced drawing from the jacket quite a few times which you should always do with any holster you plan on carrying in the public.

I'd definitely recommend one of these or their other nice leather jackets if you are looking for another option to carry when having to dress nice or keep warm.

Visit Licensed2Carry.com to check out this jacket and their other mens and womens jackets.

What are you planning to do in the Summer in Tampa --- or are you thinking the next ice age is starting anyway ;-)

What we have left on our site is what is left from winter 2008/2009.

We just did the inventory for spring and it should be up and running on our site for Monday. We have concealment shirt jackets (lightweight canvas duck---Dark Olive and Black) , lightweight "workman" duck jackets bomber and 3/4 length style(In black canvas), and a waterproof/windbreaker jacket (think orvis, northface). And we have some ladies jackets that we designed as well. We had so many requests from the warmer states and requests that wanted something waterproof during the rainy season, which is why we designed the waterproof.

The shirt jackets are perfect for just throwing over a shirt, and they are warm enough for breezy weather as well. The workman jackets are rugged and tough in style, but that black canvas workmans look. They are made in black and will not print. We had requests from the warmer states to have something other than fleece and leather, so we designed a jacket that in a bomber style and also a 3/4 style.

We also had an overwhelming request to have something in general for the warmer states besides leather..something that could be used all year round for the warmer climates and something that could be used or spring/summer and fall for the colder climates.

As a preview, we are also getting some cowhide belts and holsters made to match the jackets we design.

We have sizes from Large all the way to 3XL. We are just doing a show this weekend to preview it...but spring launch is Monday. (We are going to try for tommorow...but we are hoping by monday).

I would think the jacket would be swinging from the weight of a pistol. That's one reason why I won't carry in a jacket pocket.

It doesn't swing around with a pistol in it. I think just the weight of the leather holds it down and in place just fine. That wasn't a problem at all.

Thumbs up Vest material?

Have you tried ballistic nylon, with a small rectangle of lead in the bottom hem of the vest's front 'corners' (where the vest front closes/comes together? Hangs straight, doesn't blow in the wind as much. You can line it over the shoulders to make it more comfortable if worn over a t-shirt. If it is the real stuff, the stiff nylon body panels should not print throughl clearly ... if at all.

Luke is correct, the gun doesnt swing..its snug and held close to you by commerical grade built in holster.

Acutally our customers love the jackets, the quality of the leather is superb as its A+ grade. Not just run of the mill(Think orvis, ralph lauren, armani)--and there is no markings on the outside, so it truly is conceal carry.

The leather is picked, approved and dyed just for us..and even after that, I pick, approve and wont go into production, until I look at samples made (for men and women) and get feedback from a couple of people.

The designs down to what zipper and lining we use are done by my wife. She is the one that started doing the jackets for women and the jackets for men to give it a very classic and stylish touch while remaining tactical, functional and practical.

Until she approves the sketches, we dont take it a step further, until I approve the tactical functionality of them, they dont go into production. We dont put out on the market what we wouldnt wear ourselves;

Thats how confident we are of our product:

Our customers currently range from Cops, Detectives, we have healthy following of bodyguards and CCW holders. We have shipped everywhere from Florida all the way to alaska (they love us because of our flat rate shipping no matter where)...and even hawaii.

You can see some of our recent feedback as well:
