Default House Democrats withdraw push to overturn state's stand-your-ground self-defense laws

Will these morons ever understand what this law really is? I really pisses me off when they call it the "shoot first" law which we all know it isn't but media and the feds seem to know better. I am glad they are putting this on the back burner for now but this is something else we have to pay attention to to keep it from becoming another bs law.

The Washington Times is reporting that House Democrats backed off of their effort Tuesday to offer a "Trayvon amendment" to pressure states to drop their stand-your-ground laws. The amendment was intended to push to overturn stand-your-ground self-defense laws in states like Florida

That is certainly a stupid move. We should be protected to stand our ground. Another political shot in the back.

With the new evidence surfacing about the Martin shooting, they will have to push that law in the backburner. Why doesn't that surprise me????

Call it whatever you want. When I, as a reasonable person, truly believe that I am imminent danger of death or great bodily injury, and if I have my firearm on me, either CC in public or in my house, I will defend myself until the threat is over. Quite frankly, "stand your ground" are just words to me and do not relate to what I will do to defend myself. If I am to take them literally, I am not going to just stand there and dare someone to make me move--I will do everything I can to avoid any confrontation either before the fact (situational awareness) or as the fact seemngly is becoming a problem ( run away, drive away, stay away, get away etal).

I live in Mississppi and we have the stand your ground law with no civil recourse and we are watching the Martin case very close. I'm glad Mississippi is a gun friendly state.

i think they blew that whole martin zimmerman incident way out of per portion to divide and further conquer this nation as well by getting libs in the mindset that guns should be banned and when they think enough americans buy into it it will become law as preachers teacher and media will propagate seeds in the heads of fools to justify taking more of our rights away .....all part of their grand plan to try and disarm us and we all know what happens when government disarm their citizens..........they are marched off to camps and systematically shot burned in ovens or survive doing menial labor or traded as sex slaves........or tortured experimented on whatever they want because they will own you and their minions will do their evil will........
i choose liberty freedom and the right to protect our rights on our own soil united we stand divided we fall

In NY there is no stand your ground law, but that is no surprise. The funny thing is that some New York City area assemblyman tried to promote what he called a TTR law. That is "Turn Tail and Run". We do get some beauties around the state.
