If you are asking who's safety I am most interested in, then it's mine. I'm one of the good guys, and if I hear my front door get kicked in, I'll be armed when I come out of the office or bedroom. I'd really like not to be shot by a police officer that had the wrong address. In your scenario, if a police officer is invited in, or has a reasonable cause to enter a home, what he finds, he finds. I'm not a lawyer, but I think that would be admissible as evidence. I have very little concern for people that get caught breaking the law. In fact, every time I hear about a bad guy getting caught, it warms my heart, and I smile. I do not have all the answers, but I am absolutely sure that I do not want a "no knock" scenario to ever happen in my own home. It would probably end badly. But like I said, I'm a good guy, I would feel comfortable assuming that anyone kicking in my front door is a bad guy(s) perpetrating a home invasion, and I will respond to that immediately under that assumption. Maybe we need something like the "do not call" list???

| When any situation of this type gets discussed it usually gets confused and turns into a shouting match of some type. You are exactly correct is that for the vast majority of people in the US there will never be a search warrant served on them whether a no-knock or any other type. There will be some mistakes and some tragic incidents that will again outrage the community. This discussion started with false calls to 911 and descriptions of horiffic cases of murder, drugs and other various crimes. I think one was a 30 minute call that finally convinced the operator of the validity. When such calls are taken what is the proper response. You have someone saying that they have killed someone and are getting ready to kill someone else. What if it was you calling that you had just killed one intruder and was holding another at gun point while his partner was holding your spouse hostage in another room. Do you want the police to knock on your door ans ask if it is OK to come in whil you are in the back of the house and your wife is being held in the front so the BG can tel lthe police it was all a mistake. Lots of things to think about before we get to strict on search warrants and no-knock deals along with banning SWAT teams. Sometimes they do happen to do good things. Sometimes I also feel that I am not a part of society. I am 58 years old and have never been arrested, never been in jail, never been in trouble with the law other than some speeding tickets, never been searched other than at the airport, never been broken into other than some stuff stolen from out of the yard. I am not afraid to go to the bathroom at night without mt gun I just feel like I don't fit in. |

I still want the police to knock, but be very persistent in their wish to come in and check to see if everything is OK. If it gets to that point, I won't be home, or will already be dead. My kids and the wife will resist. My kids have memories of being taken to school with armed soldiers on the bus with them, and gun trucks fore and aft. All are proficient with firearms and improvised weapons. They will fight, because they know what not fighting means. I'm 40 years old. I've met people that have killed thousands of others. Literally. I've met people that had daughters raped in front of their parents, just to get information. I've met murderers and child molesters, rapists, arsonists, and car bombers. There are some very bad people in our world. If all goes as planned, regardless of the casualties sustained, my wife and kids will not go quietly into the night. They know that the police document crimes more often than they prevent them. They are to fight their way out of trouble, or to die trying. I will not count on the mercy or honor of a thug, neither will they. That is not BS bravado, that's just a simple straight forward approach to the world we live in.

| If it were my home, I have no doubt I would be murdered by the Police because I would indeed show up with a gun, not with a knife when they broke down my door. No Knock warrants are a travesty and should never be allowed.

| I have called 911 5 or 6 times and the least amount of time that it took me to reach a live operator was 6 minutes. That wasn't the time it took to get a response, it was the time it took to talk to someone.

| Sounds like a good place for some of our "stimulus" $'s to go. It'll create some IT jobs for LE, and give some folks some free time to work on getting some rightous arrests. This should be an easy fix! |
