MY CHP permit was denied the other day due to "Criminal possesion" charges.

This Charge stems back to early 05 (4+ years) where I voluntarily let the Police search my house. They turned up .63 grams (about the size of your pinky-nail) of Marijuana, I was charged and served out what was expected of me.

As I understand it, if it is a single charge, I should still be able to get the CHP. Do i have a chance with the Court of Appeals? I am learning to gunsmith and this would make things a LOT easier. Thanks guys. For the record, haven't touched anything like pot in at least 4 years.

I travel frequently throughout the United States for work, and am currently obtaining both a Utah and Oregon permit. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts as to the best permits to obtain so that you would be covered in the most possible states. I had heard that if I added Florida to the two that I have I would be able to carry in every state possible for an Oregon resident. Looking at the maps it appears there are still several other states I would have to apply to individually. What is the best combination of permits available to non-residents to get the maximum legal coverage throughout the country?

In nearly 3 years of carrying, I have never gone more than one 12-hour period without my pistol. After 3 days of being in Decatur, IL, I have decided that I will avoid Illinois at all cost.

For one, there's nothing appealing to me about that state, whatsoever. For two, I have no desire to ever be in a place that places such little trust in its citizens.

Talk about feeling naked. I was pretty wierded out while walking along, engaged in my typical "head-on-a-swivel" mode, only to realize that the most useful tool at my disposal was my hands.

It was nice to get home, hug the wife & baby, and strap back in. Side note: My pants fit better with a gun in the waistband.

I see from the maps on this site that La. my home state does not allow me to legally carry here with my non- resident florida permit. From what I have read of the law here and read on other forums, I belive this to be incorrect. Does anybody know for sure if La. is still saying it is not accepting the non resident Florida permit. Thanks for any info that you have.

Hi everyone, First off, I am brand new to this site and would like to say a Big Hello to everyone!http://www.usacarry.com/forums/image...es/new1/no.gif
Now down to business: I currently carry a Kahr PM9 (about 400 plus rounds fired through it) which is very concealable, and accurate. It has proven itself to be an excellent CCW to carry during the warmer months when I wear just shorts and a t-shirt. However, I would love to carry a 45 ACP and have really looked hard at the P45. I also like the 1911 platform and if I had the extra $$$, I'd probably get the ED Brown Kobra Carry. Both guns have their advantages and disadvantages. Weight, size, durability, accuracy, etc. Any members out there with opinion. I would really like to know if anyone has had both or one or the other. Thanks!!

I'm wondering if the line in the SC state gun laws is more about separation of church and state than any other reason:

(9) church or other established religious sanctuary unless express permission is given by the appropriate church official or governing body;

With that being said, does anyone know if it is legal to carry a concealed weapon on church property, if permission has been given, regardless of whether you have a CWP or not?

I've applied for mine but have around 80 more days to wait until I get my permit back in the mail. I've been given permission to carry at church and wonder if I can carry there like I do at home.

This mall has a 'no concealed weapons' sign but it isn't legal. I wonder if they'll 'fix' that in light of this accident.

On the flip side, maybe criminals will think twice about doing bad deeds knowing that there are armed citizens walking around.

====================
Myrtle Beach
Gunshot let loose in the mall
A man walking through a Myrtle Beach mall accidentally discharged his gun Saturday evening, said Cpl. Bill New with the Myrtle Beach Police Department.
In the midst of adjusting his belt, the man accidentally fired the handgun while walking through Coastal Grand mall, New said. The man was authorized to carry the weapon.
The gunshot, which occurred around 5 p.m., struck the floor in the corridor that goes from the center of the mall to Dillard's.
No one was injured, New said.

I have read many forum posts on whats the best concealment holster to wear. I have bought a few and looked at websites about others. But I read, and I believe it was here, about the "smart carry" and I have to say I wasn't impressed when I first saw a picture of it but I looked at the website and I was impressed so I bought one. Like any holster you have to fool with a bit to get it where you want and get used to it which doesn't take long. It is by far the most comfortable I have worn. Yes you may not get the quickest draw with this but it aint bad.This is my favorite holster to use, especialy in summer when concealment is much harder. I am 5' 11" and 248 and it's comfortable.

Just thought I would pass this along and maybe help someone who is looking for another concealment option.:to_pick_ones_nose:

I have had my MN and FL non-resident CCW permits for quite some time now, but since I live in Illinois I have not had the opportunity to put them to use.

For the last week I have been in Tampa, FL for work and I have carried my Springfield XD(m) 9mm every day. I purchased a Crossbreed Supertuck (horsehide without the Combat Cut) and I really like the combo. The supertuck is extremely comfortable while sitting, driving, walking, etc. I couldn't rate it higher. I don't have much experience with holsters so you can take my opinion for what it is worth, but I don't see ANY reason to shop for a new holster.

At first I was a little nervous and kept thinking people were looking at me in a funny way, but after I have had multiple, long conversations with people (while I was armed) I am realizing that everyone is fairly oblivious. I have had my sidearm on me while wearing an untucked t-shirt, polo shirt, and a tucked-in dress shirt with dress pants and the concealment is excellent.

Another thing I noticed was that I don't feel encumbered at all, if anything I have a new sense of freedom while I carry my weapon. I am proud to be an American. I can't imagine living anywhere else. Illinois is another story . . .
