Plus, all us conservatives are constantly talking about how we dislike all the lobbyist efforts that interfere with things getting changed, or done correctly, or not using money to influence/buy Congressmen/women. Then the first thing we cry out is "Support the NRA". That's hypocritical!

WE just need to stay in front of our own Senators and Congressional Representatives, on a regular basis, and let them know how we feel...good and bad.

My neighbors work as volunteers at the voting precincts. They told me that the voting percentage at the first primary was 6%. It was less at the runoffs. It's only about 20% in the general elections. 100% of the people talk about politics from one side or the other, but only about 20% really do anything, like vote.

Then the first thing we cry out is "Support the NRA". That's hypocritical! We are fighting against well funded- connected - agenda driven - special interest groups that don't give a hoot about individuals or the opposition. Bloomberg - Brady Bunch - Progressives - etc.
Groups like the NRA and others are the best option against these types of groups. They balance out the playing field.

These well funded- connected - agenda driven - special interest groups are also well aware of the dirty little secret that 100% of the people talk about politics from one side or the other, but only about 20% really do anything, like vote. that is how ACORN and SEIU groups came to power.

The NRA and others have been trying to get their members to VOTE for Years.
The Community Organizations like ACORN and SEIU get their members for Vote Early and Often.

Not trying to change your mind, but if you think your congress person cares about you as an individual rather than how much a group can help with votes and cash, you haven't been paying attention.

Some may argue that being a one issue voter is not the answer.
My reply is - Without the Second Amendment, the others in the Constitution are meaningless.
If that makes me a one issue voter then so be it.
I like being an American, not a subject that is ruled by the likes of Bloomberg and Daily.

Again, I am not dissing you I am just trying to keep the conversation going.

If you are saying that being a member of GOA, etc., for power to level the playing field is similar to being a member of a union, which levels the plaYING FIELD against management abuses, quite frankly I had not looked at it from that perspective. I guess to some extent I am still crazy enough to think some Congressional representatives still listen. Maybe I AM wrong about that. I KNOW the Democrat ones don't. Healthcare was an example of that.

If more folks sent emails and letters to their Representatives, the collective toll would be effective, in my opinion. I guess that just a pipedream though. Reality is that folks won't, and don't do that.

Being a one-issue voter? To me, that term is a slur against people that are adamant about their stance on a particular issue. It's derogatory, and an attempt to embarrass, or shut them up for believing in something. hell, I'd rather have 20 million "one-issue" voters VOTING, than 20 million "talk about every issue, but don't vote ever" folks !! Besides, like you said, even if you are a one-issue voter, if it's the RIGHT issue, you spot on! And I can't think of one issue that better sums up and is the pillar for all the others, than the Second Amendment!

National Lawmakers Meet in Chicago to discuss Gun Control

National lawmakers were in Chicago holding a Congressional hearing on proposed gun control legislation today.

The Closing the Gun Show Loophole Act would require private sellers at gun shows to perform background checks before selling firearms. Illinois passed a similar law in 2005.

Jody Weis is superintendent of Chicago Police. He says the law should be implemented in all states.

WEIS: It's just common sense legislation. I don't see how anyone could say this is restrictive when we're simply asking for a background check if you're going to buy a weapon. This is pretty simple to understand.

Thirty-three states, including Indiana, allow private dealers to sell guns to anyone without a background check.

According to the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, only seven states require background checks at all gun purchase points.
