Default New Jersey: Assembly Committee to Consider Ammo Ban & More

Are these people for real? Banning of ammo is the same as banning firearms.

On Monday, January 30, the New Jersey Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee is scheduled to consider Assembly Bill 588 and Assembly Bill 1013. The hearing will be held at 2:00 p.m. in Committee Room 16, 4th Floor, State House Annex in Trenton.

Sponsored by Assemblyman L. Grace Spencer (D-29), A588 is cleverly disguised as police safety legislation aimed at armor piercing ammunition (which is already prohibited under federal and state law). The measure actually opens the door to a sweeping ammunition ban by an unelected public official by executive fiat. Common hunting, target, and self-defense ammunition would be subject to ban, along with BB's, airgun pellets, and non-metallic ammunition like plastic airsoft pellets, if the Attorney General decides that they pose a threat to the safety and well being of law enforcement.

Do not expect this to stop at New Jersey, if this passes other states will follow.

That I doubt. Other states do not have their heads as far up their asses as NJ does - and I'm allowed to say that cos I was born there. NJ already has one of the most draconian may-issue systems in the country and other states do not seem to be following suit - rather the contrary.

New Jersey then I suspect New York, California, Illinois, Hawaii shall follow.

How can anyone attempt to ban ammo without it violating the second amendment?

Just another reason that some states may want to consider just leaving the Union lol...I hear Texas keeps that option alive every year, is that correct Outlaw? SHTF bad enough with these types of laws and I've got friends in the Lone Star State, I'll be relocating lol....I DOUBT others will follow, in fact if you look nation wide, not only are the laws NOT going against the 2nd, they are actually getting BETTER! IA and WI, just last year added carry laws, MN and others a few years back, I don't think most state are as asinine as NJ, IL, and few others.

Luckily I too have stock! lol

Come on down, but be sure to bring lots of guns and ammo - we look closely at those that don't.

Banning of ammunition is not under serious consideration in NYS. There have been several bills introduced to do this but are DOA at the senate. All gun control bills are relegated to obscurity at the senate level. NYS democrat and anti-gun governor Andrew Cuomo has decided to disassemble the COBUS system presently in effect in NY as the ammo database has not solved any crimes. This is a step away from ammo issues.

NJ currently bansw the carrying of hollowpoint ammo.
