Default Guess my voice won't be heard....

Wayne LaPierre is apparently speaking once again to raise more money for the NRA. The event is called, "NRA Voice of Freedom". It is supposedly the first-ever event where advocates, politicians, and citizens come together to show that there is untold power in the single voice.

The event will take place at the Wedgewood Country Club, in Powell, Ohio on Feb. 28, at 6:00PM. Tickets are $250 per person.

If you want to donate $5,000, Silver Level Sponsor, you would get a premium table for 8, and the equivalent to 2 back stage passes to meet keynote speakers, NRA officers.

If you want to donate $10,000, Gold Level Sponsor, you would get a premium table for 8, and 6 back stage passes.

So apparently the $250 tables & chairs have folding legs? Must be called the Tin Foil Level Sponsor?

For $250, do they give you glass or paper to eat and drink from? Again, if my voice is so important to the pro-gun movement; then why is the only sound coming from me, the jingle of change left in my pockets? Unless they pass the hat while I'm there. In that case...I guess my voice won't be heard at all?

Why not have 2nd Amendment Stadium rallies throughout the country? Charge $10 bucks a head, and pass a jar for contributions? At least let us all have a "realistic" opportunity to attend.

I'm sure Wedgwood Country Club is a real nice place. And I'm sure it probably cost more than $250/yr to be a member? But your not gonna find out for sure, unless you stop by on Feb. 28th, at 6:00PM. After you've paid in advance for that $250 ticket anyways!

If they really want to hear my voice,....then why don't they get their hands out of my pockets?

Litigation isn't cheap. And my understanding is that a LOT of the money goes towards this.

Wayne LaPierre gets paid a good bit...just shy of $1mil per year...but that's chump change compared to what a lot of corporate big shots make.

    Default $250.00 per plate

I would love to go, but I would have to sit on the step out the back door of the kitchen & eat out of a tin can.

This gathering is obviousley not geared to you...........or me for that matter. The big money gatherings happen all the time and the Philanthropists come together just for the sake of being seen and giving to their cause.

Don't feel left out, this wasn't really an invite for you anyway.

Even at $10 a head, it would be hard to get insurance and security for that price and I bet the chump change it would produce would not be worth the trouble.

People won't gather just to gather for $10 a head with no entertainment. Hell, I set up at gunshows and sometimes end up next to the NRA recruiter. You would not believe how many folks won't fork out the $25 to join and have some snide remark to boot.

How many years do you sign up for at a time? I was a member till 2016 and they called me last Friday and asked if I wanted to re-up for another 5 just to get some cash in the war chest. I signed up for another 5, good till 2021, but saw no need for a life membership although I know I should have done that years ago.

NRA has done a lot for us over the years but usually we only hear how they comprimised over this or that. If only we, gun folks. could come together under one organization. We would have the gun rights in the bag. Instead ther are 40 different orgs that claim to be better or make more sense but all they really do is muck up the issues.

If you have never thought about it before, think about it now and if your not a member of NRA, why not join?

There are fringe organizations which aren't bad, they are just not very strong. Why not put all our resources under one org.? So Wayne will get a salary bump. So what? We will have a stronger voice and be able to buy more politicians to our point of view. Sad but true.

    Think about it.

The NRA, I am a member, is becoming as un-wieldy as the Gov.

That may be but what is the alternative? They at least give us some of the filtered news about the goings on of the gun issues.

It ain't the best but it is the best we have.

I agree. While there could better, it is the best ally we have to fight against gun grabbers. Well, them and grassroots organizations both.

My wife's aunt lives near by. We were planning a road trip to attend. I must say...I really enjoyed the exisbits...the state of the art all in one place. I can't help myself... Like going in a candy store. If you are into the reloading, all the manufactures have their presses setup and you can crank each handle through the process.
