I agree completely and without reservation! If they are not going to protect us we must protect ourselves! Weather we are in theaters, stores are on the street.
This is a discussion on Who should we blame for the Aurora Century 16 Theatre Massacre? within the Firearm Politics & 2nd Amendment Issues forums, part of the Main Category category; Blame whoever you want. It won't make a bit of difference. The outcome is still the same....

~There are those who say that countering violence with an open or concealed handgun is itself barbaric and uncivilized. Apparently, it’s more civilized and less barbaric to cower under a desk and wait for it to be your turn ~Proud NRA ~SAF~GoA Member~
The only one to blame is the shooter and not the weapon. If I say I am fat, do I blame the spoon and try to ban eating utensils? The quote in my signature below says it all.
"A free people should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from anyone, including their own government. ~ G. Washington
I think the theatre company deserves a ton of blame. I hope they get sued by everyone at the show in #9 and #8.
First they tell you not to bring your own guns.
Then they have such lax security themselves that a deranged shooter is able to get in, sneak out, sneak back in with his guns, and blast the place to bejeses.
Sounds like blame to me.
fstroupe: I read the reference you gave and it has all happened. We were warned 49 years ago but nobody listened. Now we will pay the consequences. Pick up the days newspaper or TV news and it is all there.
Now to really stir the pot, there are different sites on the internet saying the shooter was part of a grand conspiracy and had help in his operation. The body armor and other gear are said to be of the type used by the military and law enforcement personnel and not available to the average John Doe. Some of the items are purported to cost thousands of dollars which the shooter probably wouldn't have access to. This whole incident, horrific as it is, is being played up by the media and bringing out the anti-gun people. Diane Feinstein has started her diatribe as well the king of New York, Bloomberg. The closer we get to November, the more the media and left wingers will be going after guns. Orchestrated? Perhaps. Left wing hype? Absolutely. The media is running this incident into the ground and should back off and let the police do their job investigating. No speculation, just verifiable facts. But then, when has the media only used factual data?
If I go to a theater with my gun, no one will know it unless they search me. When the day comes that something like that happens, I don't think many will go to the movies anymore!
I have also heard the same thing. At this point and time I wouldn't put anything past this current government when the issue is with guns. But first let's do some fact finding research before we say it's the government and not some whack job.Now to really stir the pot, there are different sites on the internet saying the shooter was part of a grand conspiracy and had help in his operation.
"An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject"
Exactly. If you're going to shift blame to anyone else, especially shifting blame as thoroughly as the OP lists, then you just HAVE to include the NRA and the gun manufacturers. If you're going to spread blame so widely, then anybody who even remotely had ANYTHING to do with this has blame. The shooter's parents, the healthcare system for not properly treating him, his friends for not noticing his deteriorating condition, the gun range he applied to for recognizing there was something wrong with him but didn't report it, etc, etc, etc.
No, the blame lies with the shooter - plain and simple.
It is just as wrong to blame the list you list as it is to blame the NRA and gun manufacturers. (The only possible other "party of blame" is theoretical: it would be if he had accomplices who knew exactly what he was going to do.)
Most people with even a minimal amount of common sense will blame only the person who actually did the shooting. Without guns he would have used explosives or something else.
Progressives (liberals, communists, socialists ) believe that man and society can be made perfect if we can just pass enough rules and laws. They do not believe in the flawed nature of man or original sin. They believe that all criminal acts are caused by environment or inaminate things. Men can't be evil; it is ontly that there are not enough laws. This is their reason for continually wanting bigger government.
