Thumbs down Buying Ammo? You'll need a; background check, a permit & an ammo fee for that!!

The California Senate this week approved a collection of bills, including one (SB 53) that would require background checks, permits, and fees for the purchase of ammunition.
SB 53 also “requires background checks and a $50 ammo purchase fee.”
So if you think something like this can happen only in California — think again.

I can really see a black market opening up for the sale of ammunition and anything gun related in California. The state government out there seems to have gone completely around the bend and should be quarantined. Send Feinstein, Boxer and Pelosi back to them so they can all revel in their insanity.

Feinstein is really going to be PO'd when she finds out she needs a permit, background check, and will be paying top dollar for ammo for her CC piece...

I may just see it now at a Kalifornia LGS; This is outrageous! Don't you know who I am?

Just don't see that happening here in Arkansas. It would be the last piece of legislation any congress critter tried to bring up here. They'd be recalled and forced to move to Kommiefornia.

The cheese has finally slipped off the California cracker. Why don't you in California just simply declare the government as being an outlaw and disregard every dumbass mandate they put on you?

I'll bet the politicians exempt themselves from this law as they do with others.

They have already approved a similar law in NY for ammo purchasing. While there is supposed to be background checks for ammo purchases, there is no fee. They have also set up a registry for this too. The reality is it will cost over $75 Million and at least five years to implement. Something the state does not have. There are also a number of lawsuits filled against the SAFE ACT. It is referred to as the unSafe Act by law enforcement and civilians as it puts the law abiding of greater risk of death and great bodily harm. If you go to the URL I provided you will also see it reads "www.....bla, bla, Gun Reform" says a lot about these anti Constitutionalist pigs. Not about anti Gun Violence, just Gun Control.

My guess is that the skill of reloading will become a mandatory trade for all those in the shooting sports.
Buy your hardware now as there is already a run on primers and powder.

I don't understand why you are all jumping on the negative side of this issue. The ammo tax will provide much needed funding for government expansion and wonderful social programs. Secondly, they make all of us, including the most vulnerable and greatest treasure among us, our children, safer. CT enacted this type of law and to the dismay of all the gun lobby activists, it has been 100% effective in preventing another school shooting to date as there hasn't been another since that terrible, dark day back in December at Sandy Hook.

The sad part of this is that this type of nonsense could come out of any east coast politician's office and most of the idiots in this part of the country would give it a big "Amen". We are headed for a revolution but this time it is going to be both sides against the middle. I hope the middle wins......

The bills being considered have been passed in committee, but not by the legislature or sent to the governor, yet. As a life member of the NRA and a member of the California Rifle and Pistol Association and a taxpayer, I have written emails to the various members of these committees outlining my reasons why they should not pass these bills. Most of them have not accepted my emails because I co not live in their districts. So, I have faxed and mailed these letters directly to them. I have received no response. What was I thinking? I live in a socialist state. Of course, they are going to ignore me. I'm just a "gun totting, Bible reading, aging Conservative". I couldn't possibly have anything pertinent to add to the argument.

Wake up, Californians. Quit your bitchin' and get on with your life. You elected these people. You want all the free goodies. You want big government to take care of you. You think it's all "free". Well, look at your paycheck stub and add up what is taken out for state government. Then look at your grocery receipt and see how much you are taxed. Look at your gas receipt and see how much you are taxed at the pump. You asked for it, you got it.

The above comments are made by a cranky, old woman who remembers when this was the Golden State and are directed at the many conservatives who read these forums. However, I caution you all to be vigilant because this crap is coming to a state near you.
