Default Sight fix?

Just found out my Springfield 1911-A1 has a problem with the sights.. It is making me shoot too low (I have had a few other people confirm this) Is it worth the cost of getting this fixed? Or better, anyone have an idea what it would cost? Thanks

Well if your willing to do a hack job, you could always file down the front sight with a dremal.

One thing to keep in mind, bullets travel on an arch so what may be low at 25 feet may be dead on at 25 yards. What distance are you shooting that it's hitting low? Have you tried different distances to see if it's consistently low?

What I normally do with mine is shoot them at different distances so I can see were the point of impact is compared to point of aim. Then I know if I'm shooting at 15 feet I need to cover up the target and if I'm at 25 yards I need to hold a 6 o'clock hold. This may be an alternative to shaving the sight. Unless this is a competition pistol were you’re always shoot at a set distance I'd probably just leave it alone. Then just learn how it shoots at different distances.

If you want to fix it you could file the front sight but I think I'd spend a little money and get a nice set (or at least a rear) adjustable sites.
