sad for the father, I hope never to be in that situation with either of my sons, can't predict what would happen.
My wife's uncle spent a few days in the hospital a few months ago when his own son tried to stab him to death (about 10 deep cuts on face, throat, and body and a few punture wounds). The sad thing is when I asked Terry if he'd now be willing to take the conceal carry class he said no. He still doubts that his son was really trying to kill him. At least for now his son is on his 1st year out of a 10 year sentance and he'll have a little time to think about things and re-evaluate his CCW plans.
Its all a sad deal no matter what way you look at it, but sorry family or not, you try to kill me, I'm shooting! and I do have kids. Three of them.

The sad thing is that even if it was a justified shooting, I imagine the stigma of having to shoot his own son will remain with him for the rest of his life. I feel bad for the guy. I can only imagine the trauma of having to decide your life or your sons life.
Lots of things can happen in the "heat of the moment" that one would never even consider later. I too certainly feel pity for the father. What a shame to have to take your own son's life. He knew what the son was capable of and had probably done prior. Would hate to ever have to make such a horrible decision.
I can't think of anything much worse than having to kill your own child.
