Right now, I am favoring a 1911 with ambi safeties.
Didn't Charles Daly or one of those other 1911 special makers offer south paw versions of their pistols?

If that's what you go with, my advice is, get a decent holster with a thumb snap type retention strap that covers the safety. That will keep it from getting wiped off accidentally. Or, do as was suggested previously, have the safety on the left side of the frame (for the right handed shooter) ground down, so it's no longer an issue.

Almost a year later.......I completely agree - The Judge!
I use a high standard 1911 ambi safety and a model 36 smith. The glock mag release pokes my hand and if I grip it too hard the magazine falls out. Its why I like the smith MP .40, contoured mag release.
I carry a G27 and a Colt Mustang. I practice with both hands and shoot pretty equal.I can eject the Mags with my left hand. But some guns you can buy or mod for a lefty. But unless I missed a post? Unless it ejects on the left it isn't really a left handed auto??
