6 Year old brings loaded pistol to school and it goes off!

I heard about this today on the radio. It happened in Houston. Not sure how this could happen. The story doesn't say and the parents have been tight lipped but it's my guess the gun owner had the pistol laying around somewhere where the child had access to it. I wonder if the kid loaded it or if it was already loaded? Nonetheless, there is no excusable reason for leaving a firearm where a child has access to it, period!

Some people think that if they teach their kids about guns, then they don't have to worry about their kids finding a loaded gun.
