Talking Good: "10 years later, opposition to concealed guns fades"

Two different spins on the same story, both good here in Mi...

from 10 years later, opposition to concealed guns fades | mlive.com

and from 10 years after concealed weapons law, unclear why many in state were gun-shy | Detroit Free Press | freep.com

Copy writen material so just a short quote, read it at the above links...

IONIA, Mich. (AP) — Ten years after Michigan expanded the right of law-abiding adults to carry firearms, some of those who opposed the change say the dangers they feared didn't come to pass.
    and

Ten years after Michigan made it much easier for its citizens to get a license to carry a concealed gun, predictions of widespread lawless behavior and bloodshed have failed to materialize.

Back when CC States were the exception... and it wasn't so long ago!..... the anti-gun mantra, working the fear angle, was: "If you pass this legislation, the streets will run red with blood!" The first couple of States passed it, somewhat tentatively, over this counter punching and, guess what? No blood in the streets!

So a couple of more States tried it. Up show the "antis" using the same "one liner".... "The streets will run red with blood!" STILL no red streets!

Didn't take long for the various State Legislators (and voters) to twig onto the fact that the antis' claims were not only baseless but actually became sort of a standing joke when the situation presented itself for ridicule.

Best part of the history lesson?????? The antis never discovered that their shock weapon one liner was more of a joke than a real concern. (Not very original, our Lib/Prog/Dem opposition. Fortunately for them, as it preserves their longivity, neither are their ardent admirers.) LOL!

As you probably know Wisconsin just passed a CC bill, which hasn't been implemented yet. This hasn't stopped news papers and especially the Milwaukee Journal Sential, from trying the scare tatic of "the streets will run red". They aren't about to stop the anti-gun rants.

Now the same thing is being said about open carry. By both the civilian antis and the cop antis. And some of the cops are the ones making the threats. And it is just as baseless.

I put a like on your comment but had to quote it as it deserves to be said over and over.

We have had shall-issue CCW law here in SC for about 15 years now. I have yet to see a street "red with blood" or any of this other sillyness.

Sounds like (re: Wisconsin) the Lib/Prog/Dem coalition STILL needs to get some new material.

Then again, maybe it is the only "bumper sticker" slogan they can think of. (Not very original our "Loyal (?) Opposition! LOL!)

Put this on the GunSafes Facebook page today.

Stats actually show that gun ownership doesn't affect crime one way or another. Many places with loose carry laws have high crime, others have low crime. What affects crime rates is poverty and population density. What affects your personal safety is awareness and the right tools.
