Yeah. Should loosen up a bit after about 400-500 rounds for break in period.
Most of my life I have been using a revolver. mostly a S&W 38 police special, a Ruger 22 and a High Standard 22. I recently bought a Springfield XD-40. I find the slide is hard to pull back, is this normal on a new gun. I have read where after using it for a while, it gets easier. Is this right?

It will loosen up a bit, keep shooting.
BTW revolvers are pistols

A revolver is not a pistol. A revolver is a handgun, and a pistol is a handgun.

Yes...give it more range time. I have one and it gets easier after many cleans too. Not that I clean my guns nowadays but DH does because he loves just holding guns. He thought he is doing me a favour. ha! But that's another story for another day...
