Makes me angry we have to have these discussions in the first place. The "right to keep and bear arms" should mean something, even in Illinois. Lawmakers there are the ones breaking the law by legislating against the 2nd ammendment.

I think I'd carry. Probably something smaller than my XD-40 sub-compact, perhaps like my wife's snub-nose 38 caliber.

Lots of folks here talk about how they'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by six. Well, I'd rather spend a year in jail than be put in the ground years ahead of my time.

Christians in foreign lands sometimes have to "go underground" to practice their faith. Perhaps we who love the 2nd amendment should be willing to do the same.

I'd be careful as hell. But I'd carry, at least in some circumstances.

That's exactly how I feel. Glad I'm not the only one.

Probably just to much Dr Phil or something but I just can't shake the thought of a possibility of something tragic happening to them and not being able to do anything about it. I would take a bullet for my wife and daughter any day of the week and I'd do life in prison if it meant saving their lives.

I raised this question because so many people have the "you'll take my guns over my dead body attitude", I guess they are all just to smart to move to these places haha!
I will not carry for the simple fact of it is against the law. Not saying I agree with the law but I will follow it. I would say the odds are greater of me getting caught carrying before any kind of altercation. IF an altercation does arise I would like to think all this person wants is money, here take my wallet full of material things and move on.

I know what you're saying, but consider...

If George Washington and others had decided to "follow the law, even if they didn't agree with it", the American Revolution would never have happened and given birth to freedom. Freedom that is in danger today.

Common sense, of course, must be used. Stupid opposition (even to unjust laws) does no good.

But wouldn't you rather fight for your rights (being cunning as a fox), rather than just lay down like a sheep?

Starting to get deep here, our freedom is in danger? By who?

As far as fighting for my rights...well I vote. This reminds me of a gun show I went to a few months back. There was an NRA rep there trying to get people to sign up. After about 5 minutes of telling me all the great things about the NRA and me telling him no thank you he proceeded with this statement that I will never forget. "Do you have weapons?" I say yes, "Are you aware that our current president would like to take your guns away from you?" the only response I could come up with was, "so you are telling me the NRA can fix elections?"

You can't please everyone all the time.
