In my job I've seen as many people killed by a high point as a colt. The bullet doesn't care what brand gun it is. If the gun works then it works. In self defense you will most likely get one or two shots. In a competition I agree you need a higher quality gun but in day to day carry you only need one that goes bang.
1. Pretty, fancy, tack driving range guns.
We show these off to our friends. Love them clean them meticulously. Like competition guns.
Probly never carry them.
Like my ruger red label, and springfield 1911 a1.
2. Tough every day guns. Guns we carry everyday. Take care of. Our go to guns for shooting.
like my My ruger p97
Rem 710
3. Play guns. These are the just fir fun guns. That we bought "just because" and thats our excuse.
Like my Berreta bobcat 22
Swedish k96
I own all three types. I choose to carry with a gun from group 2 maybe group 1. Somewhere in that range.
Basically I like my carry gun to be comfortable reliable and know that I know that gun backwards forwardr inside and out. And that I can trust the gun and my ability to operate it in any circumstance
