Default Idiotic Guns Laws Anywhere - They Threaten Us Everywhere

This poor woman was visiting the World Trade Center Memorial in New York City. She noticed the sign that said "no guns allowed".

She asked a police office where she could check her loaded firearm.

She has a valid permit from her home state of Tennessee, but that makes no difference in the Peoples Republic of New York. She was arrested.

    This shouldn't happen.

I find it difficult to have sympathy for this woman. Just becasue we don't agree with certain laws doesn't mean we can break then at will. She was dumb enough to carry illegally but she was then concerned about a no guns allowed sign?? Facepalm.....

Aw comeon...Richie Rich...she honestly tried her best to conform. Give her a bit of leeway, call it ignorance of the law or lack of research before she left home, that NY-ers authorities do not permit guns in their small little world. She probably thought it is OK to carry anywhere, anytime until posted, because she has permit from another State. That is how I see it...

My goodnesss, she obviously wanted to obey the law. She was complying with the sign!

Bigger question is how do legislatators in places like New York get away with this crap?

Um....the same way that legislators in every other state that doesn't have reciprocity with TN do.

Because they can is how. New Yorkers wont stand up for their rights as citizens so their gov't does what it wants.

Hate to say it... But she should have checked the laws before she carried in NY... That'spart of our duty as responsible gun owners and CCW permit holders...

So, because she did not check and find out they have a stupid and repressive law, that makes the law OK and it is on her?

I guess I am a little slow, after a career in law enforcement, I still am amazed by the bobbleheads that just accept whatever the legislators do and claim it is entirely the fault of the people arrested for breaking these unconstitutional laws.

The OP was about the idiotic law...not trolling for sympathy for her (though anyone arrested for violating a law that infringes our right to keep and bear arms does deserve at least support).

I agree with Rich about finding it hard to have sympathy for her. She should have been more responsible in doing her homework. She broke the law, the police officer had to do his job in enforcing the law. It is up to the judge to decide. Hope she has a good lawyer. Good luck to her.

Sorry, but it is hammered into us over and over.......know the laws in other states you are going to travel in. Don't get me wrong....I live in NY and think the laws here suck. I also don't think she deserves jail time or anything like that; but she messed up here and deserved a little of what she is getting.
