However I don't believe that a law against firearms in parks would have changed the outcome at all...

"The shooting renewed debate about a federal law that made it legal for people to take loaded weapons into Mount Rainier. The 2010 law made possession of firearms in national parks subject to state gun laws.

Bill Wade, the outgoing chair of the Coalition of National Park Service Retirees, said Congress should be regretting its decision to allow loaded weapons in national parks.

He called Sunday's fatal shooting a tragedy that could have been prevented. He hopes Congress will reconsider the law that took effect in early 2010, but doubts that will happen in today's political climate".
I hope someone will ask this idiot how a law forbidding guns in the park would have caused this BG to not bring his.

I hope they will ask him point blank and in such a direct way that he must answer.

I agree. I would rather be a camper with my handgun and CCW and have a chance to defend myself. Only ccw are allowed in the Park

Total BS, the guy had already shot 4 people at a New Years Eve party and was running from the law. When they tried to stop him and all vehicles to make sure you have chains on your car he ran. No law or anything writen an a peace of paper would have had any effect on this guys behavior.

I once tried to go somewhere armed where I wasn't suppose to. You know what, it was like an invisible wall popped up and I couldn't take another step forward. I bumped my nose against it and everything. I took my gun off and I could walk forward again to my destination.

Guess those no weapons allowed laws do work.

At the same time he was being shown with two weapons in his hand, they almost did not mention that the three little girls and father saved from dying in a freezing river, was by a guy who used a pistol to shoot out the window of the car for access, as well as a knife to assist in clearing the window. The interviewer on commie CBS said were you afraid of hitting one of the girls. Dear CBS idiot, they were floating and not breathing, so you are saying this bad gun should not have been used in this case either. This family is alive today due to a gun. God Bless America.

Just like here in Tulsa,Oklahoma our Police Chief Chuck Jordan says to do if attacked just do as the attacker asks, don't use any type of force "like using a legal firearm" to defend yourself them selves. Just get on your knee's and pray.
The people using the Parks need to be able to defend themselves against a crazy armed person.

All the people in the parks were just unarmed Sheep waiting to be killed. You can bet that Mayor in NYC who has 24/7 Police protection, will be calling his friends at the Brady Bunch stirring up the changing the laws allowing firearms in the Parks.

I seriously doubt if the gunman even new about the National Park carry law! Do sane people really believe that he would have stopped and peacefully given up his weapons at the Park entrance if the there was no legal carry law? After all, this shooter killed the park ranger before she was able to get out of her vehicle because she had blocked his path after he sped through a park checkpoint! Sometimes I wonder if liberals are just educated robots incapable of reasoning or independent thinking.
