That's a great idea, except it's not accurate.

It starts out in '86 showing that Alabama was a Shall Issue state. It wasn't then, and it ain't now, though I understand the author's confusion. I thought we were Shall Issue up until this site opened and I took a look at the actual code section for the first time. I never really thought about the shall-issue vs. may-issue issue before joining this site in '07, and didn't need to think about it because Bama's sheriffs in the three counties I've lived in have always made it as easy as pie to obtain the permit. From what I read, the gun-laws here are among the most lax in the nation. No permit course required, $15 bucks a year, instantaneous issuance, no requirement to disclose carry status to LE.

While it's real easy to get papered here, and because of that I can understand why it is easy to make the "Shall Issue" mistake, someone going to the trouble of putting together that animated map ought to be able to verify its accuracy. I wonder how many other mistakes are on the map?

That's a great idea, except it's not accurate.

And it also says it was created in 2008 but yet covers through 2011. Well, I guess it could have been edited along the way....
