OK. I concede. There should be mandatory training to receive a concealed weapons permit. To wit: "Don't take your guns to New York. Don't try to take your guns in carry on luggage or on your person on an airplane. Make sure you declare your unloaded firearms in your checked baggage to the airline before you check your luggage."

Im starting to wonder if these guys are martyrs for HR 822! Bringing it to everyone's attention: if this was law, none of this tragedy would have happened!

If they are, God bless them! They should definitely all join forces and fight together.

NYC is nothing but a set trap for the ignorant (which is no excuse). A just system would be for the authorities to determine if the possessor of the gun is legal in his/her state; if so, assess a fine and be done with it. A legal carrier in one state is highly unlikely to become a criminal in another. To make any legal carrier a felon over this is a gross travesty of the justice system. A second offense - that would be another story.

In Massachusetts training is mandatory to apply for a permit. It's one of the main reasons most of us have a job. One of the things we stress the most is the fact that your firearms permit is not anything like a driver's license. It becomes void in most cases once you cross the state line.....

One should avoid traveling to foreign countries.

How many idiots is it going to take until people start researching laws and learning from the mistakes of other idiots.
