Default Looking for the best ammo prices....

We all know there a plethora of sites when it comes to ammo suppliers, however I'm looking for maybe the top two or three. Although many seem to have great prices on ammo, the shipping costs almost defeats the purpose of online ordering, at least the ones that I have found. Suggestions?

I've found that there's no one place that has all the best deals at the same time. In other words, the best deals are sales on a specific quantity, or round, and the deal lasts a week or two and then someone else runs a sale and that's where the deal is.

I've also found it matters what kind of ammo you're in the market for. .223 or 5.56 NATO rounds are always on sale somewhere, and I've seen variances of $50 bucks or more on a thousand-round quantity for the exact same ammo. But .40 S&W or .45 ACP seems to go on sale less often and the percentage off when they do go on sale is less too in my experience.

That said, I've been real impressed with Palmetto State Armory of late. They have a very reasonable flat-rate shipping structure - $12 bucks per 1000 rounds, and the calibers can be mixed. They stock all of my favorite brands and bullet/load combos. They also have lots of accessories. It's tough to get them on the line when calling, but the last time I ordered, I tried to call to try to delay shipping my order because I had to go out of town for a week, and didn't want my ammo sittin' on the porch. I had ordered 3 days before and hadn't yet received email confirmation of it having shipped, so I thought I had a chance to put a hold on it. Lo and behold, while I was on the phone leaving a message on their voice mail, UPS pulled up and there was my order. I've ordered from them 4 other times, and it's never taken more than 5 working days to get here. But again, I shop every time I order ammo, and I haven't used Palmetto two purchases in a row yet, because they're not always the cheapest.

Hate to say it, but you're just gonna have to shop around.

take a look at USAammo.com good ammo good service good prices. I have bought rounds for practice from them and will soon be trying their JHP's. Being they are a shop run by Veterans, I usually look there first. Like everything else look around for best deals to fit your needs. Good Luck.

MidwayUSA is where I've ordered most of my online orders. All were while I was stationed in Alamogordo. Paying shipping was cheaper than gas to El Paso and back.

    As odd as it sounds.

Sometimes shipping is a little bit. But if you order ammo mags and any parts you need and it will work out in the wash.

If you sign up for a membership at thesportmansguide.com, you get free shipping, two $10 gift certs and a discount off non-member prices. They have a good amount of ammo at already low prices. The free shipping is the key. The membership is $25, I think. They have more than ammo. Its a cool site all together. One year of free shipping and a discount for $25!
