    Default Indoor shooting range

Ok somebody please tell me this is an impossible business to get into. Here in the Cleveland, OH area we only have a few. They are all expensive, cramped, mismanaged, and dirty. They are also just large, single story, buildings that are built out so they catch bullets. The up front building costs have to be minimal. So, unless someone can enlighten me, why don't more people open these. By the way, I won't because I've been down the business road and hated it.

It is a problem--there is no doubt about it. Here in SC, which I consider to be one of the more "gun friendly" states, a gentleman started to propose putting an indoor range in a mostly industrial out of the way area of Charleston. The mayor of Charleston, a nice guy but a raving liberal democrat, quickly had a zoning past that, surprise, surprise, targeted indoor gun ranges and put restrictions on such a possiblilty that essentially eliminated the proposed range even before it was actually proposed per city procedures. We also have a range that leaves a bit to be desired but we also have one that is as good as it can get (ATP Gunshop in Summerville, SC). We also have a free outdoor range in the national forest nearby but I find it so isolated that it scares me to go there, even with a friend or two. Situational awareness tells me that I am just too vulnerable for my liking. Yup, Cleveland, Ohio just does not sound like you can spell "gunshop" there. Ya want one--move--it really is your only alternative.
