Many highway accidents happen also by people rubber necking another vehicle accident. But that doesn't deter them. I guess you can't resist curiousity at times. Can't say I wouldn't be in that catagory, but maybe at a safer distance and behind some cover.

I noticed the dog too and thought the same thing! But I guess cop #2 was reacting to the guy swinging the conduit bender at cop#1's head. and cop#1 had to get his shots in too for the personal attack on him.

10 shots at close range.....the guy must have been pretty well ventilated. Sometimes you know it's hopeless just by looking. Just speculating. His brains could have been on the pavement behind that car.

Hindsight has produced a lot of valid questions about this shoot, but if I were on the scene there's no way I'm gonna get drenched in some whacked-out perp's blood and get infected by God-knows-what, especially one who's probably beyond help. Help a bystander?? Sure, but a perp who's blood probably resembles a chemical and biological disaster site?? Not so much.

Ok, I watched the video again, the second 5 rounds came from the tazer carrying cop.

    The rounds 6-10 were unnecessary.

We do not have a clear picture, but had they been necessary the first cop would not have stopped at 5.

I can't get to the video to check, but didn't the same officer fire all 10 shots? And if what I think I saw was what happened, that the second 5 rounds were fired into his back, it was way over the top. IMHO the second five round make it a questionable shoot.

Cops in general don't give first aid. I've seen incidents whet they get hassled for it. Here's a recent one:

Reminds me of the BoA robbery in North Hollywood several years ago. Two guys, full-auto AKs, several LEOs and citizens shot, though unbelievably, no one killed except the perps. One guy took himself out with a pistol shot under his chin, and the second guy got taken down by a rifle shot to his leg under a car or two, and he laid there in basically the same spot he fell for over 30 minutes before cops would allow an ambulance in. He had bled to death by then. Video showing him begging for help came out later, but really, only his family made any significant noise about it. Even Joe Sixpack had empathy for the cops not helping him after the mayhem he caused that day.

Neither that instance nor this one were pretty. Cops are human. I've never shot anyone, and pray to God I'll never have to, but I doubt I'd have it in me to run to the aid of someone who just forced my hand to have to shoot them. It seems rather an unreasonable expectation to put on those cops. I don't know.....there's cops here. Is first aid the first thing you're supposed to do after having to shoot someone?
